We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taz Evans a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Taz, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
If I could go back in time I would have started my business sooner. I’ve been licensed since 2014. I wish I took things more seriously at the beginning but I was young and let love/relationship make me lose sight of things. I got into a toxic relationship at the age of 19 that last quite a while and resulted in a child. My daughter had autism. Raising a child alone is hard let alone one with a disability. I wish that I started sooner so I could have provided everything shes needs. I want her to have as easy a life she is able. Things can be costly, but she’s my motivation to make it happen! I had more time to do things and wish I took full advantage. Balancing a business and motherhood has its challenges.!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I first found my love for hair when I was a child, I can remember teaching myself to braid on my dolls and doing my own hairstyles, ( my mother was never good at hair lol) . When I was in high school I went to shop in my town and had a bad experience, my hair started to fall out severely. I no longer wanted to go to any shops out of fear it would happen again. I start to do my research and learn on my own, watching YouTube to learn to do styles i wanted. I pride my self on being a one stop shop so to speak. I provide a wide selection of services from hair, nails, teeth whitening, waxing and more. I want my clients to beable to get all their needs in one place. I want them to have an easy amazing experience! It’s important to me that every clients leaves satisfied and happy. I love to make people feel good about themselves! I am most proud of the growth I’ve had in the past year. I’ve had many obstacles thrown at me but I stay determined to be successful because this is what I truly love! Im still learning and growing and can’t wait to see where I’ll get too!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social media is of course i great way to get clients, but I’m not always the best with posting. I’m working on it lol. But to be honest word of mouth is the best! You never know who knows who, or simply doing a client and they tell there friends. I find it’s benefited me the most.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I feel like entrepreneurship is hard regardless of what your doing. Some days are better than others; some days you make money, some you may make nothing. Having the strength and faith to not give up is so important. I’ve been through a lot of things and situations in my life that made me feel like giving up, not having clients sometimes or not making as much as I feel I should. Those things can be hard, I still have those feeling sometimes but I know this is what I love and I have faith that with time it will all work out
