We were lucky to catch up with Taytum Wolfe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Taytum, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I am actively working on the most meaningful project yet. I am offering complimentary maternity photos for those in my area that are on bedrest and/or close monitoring and admitted to the hospital until birth. This was a pivotal moment for me in my life when it happened. Being admitted at 30 weeks pregnant and told I was there until my son was born initially rocked my world. I instantly saw my third trimester taken from me, but instead of grieving at that time I chose to pivot. I had a mini baby shower in the hospital to celebrate, and I took my own maternity photos in the meditation garden of the hospital. This was the moment I knew I wanted to elevate my photography from a hobby to a career. After the birth of my son, and some time, I started Taytum Wolfe Photography. As I continue to learn and grow my business I always stay true to the practice of helping others. There are moments in life that you want to have captured in a memory and as a photographer that is something I try to provide all of my clients. I have worked closely with hospital staff and nurses to help make these moms who are stuck in the hospital, scared and anxious, and not feeling well take some time to feel beautiful and have this special milestone documented.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
This belief is at the heart of why I started my photography journey. There’s something magical about freezing a fleeting moment in the time – the laughter, the love, the raw emotions – and turning into a memory you can hold onto forever. Photography allows me to tell your unique story and preserve the connections that mean the most to you. It’s not just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing the essence of life’s most meaningful moments so they can be cherished for generations to come. I offer a variety of photography sessions classifying myself as a lifestyle photographer. I shoot from weddings and engagements, to maternity and family sessions, events, headshots, and sports! I love the connection I get to make with each person I work with. Making that instant connection is what helps make my sessions so unique, everyone feels comfortable and we are able to get natural photos not just staged/posed as that can feel very intimidating for most. If you aren’t sure if your photography need is something I can do, I encourage you to reach out anyways! I love the flexibility of my artistic style and would love to work with you!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Marketing on social media, maintaining an online presence, a strong website and connections. Working with others in the community and connecting with families have been the most helpful. Word of mouth has been really helpful in growing clientele as well. I have spent a lot of time really working on all of my online databases ensuring I have a strong website and social media following. The website is where a client really gets to learn more about me and my photography journey, allows you to see my work first hand, and connect with me.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There are so many free and wonderful learning tools on Youtube. Even if you are not into photography and you are starting your own journey, youtube is an outstanding resource. There is so much online that you can watch to learn first hand. Watching videos and understanding the tools not just behind the camera but really in the post processing step of photography has been so helpful. Without taking any official photography courses, I wish i would’ve started learning more online tips and tricks earlier on.
