We were lucky to catch up with Taysha Nacadia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Taysha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Looking back on my career as a Home Organizer I can honestly say that I wish I had started my business sooner. I began organizing back in 2009 when I graduated from college and was unable to find a full time position. Organizing was not something I ever thought about as a hobby, side job or profession; it was just a task that I found myself doing throughout the day to pass time. Once I realized that I actually enjoyed doing it, I offered the service to neighbors. Building clientele didn’t last long due to the pressures of retrieving a full time job with salary and benefits. I strongly believe that if I would have explored my passion sooner I may have been further ahead in the Home industry or as an entrepeneur.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, I’m Taysha Nacadia and I am a Professional Home Organizer. I’ve made my mark by organizing the homes of some of your favorite Celebrities, Athletics and Influencers. With a previous career in fashion, my expertise in style and fashion became the perfect combination for helping clients edit their wardrobe as I transformed the closet into and aesthetically pleasing space that aids in functionality and mental capacity. As closets became less challenging for me, I began exploring other areas within the home which has now made Kitchens one of my favorite spaces to organize. Kitchens are sentimental for me to organize because I come from a family that gathers in the kitchen no matter how big or small; I wish for every family to have this special bond, so I strive to ensure a kitchen is easy to navigate for the many persons that will be in it,
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Marketing and advertising for me is none existent. It is an area that I’m planning to build once I have a full team in place, however at this point the majority of my clients come from word of mouth. Thankfully this has worked for me thus far! Social media is used a portfolio for me, in the event the prospective client would like to see more of my work.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
A couple of years ago, I read this book called The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. After leaving a full time job and steady paycheck, life can get pretty uncertain. This book has helped me create better habits with money and quite honestly has made me humble myself (no more fancy dinners 4 times a week – ha!). I have taken much more control of the money that is coming in and out which allows me to invest in my business more.
