We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Waters a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Taylor , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

Absolutely! Naming a business is definitely a challenge, but when it came time to choose a name for my brand, I knew I wanted something that reflected my roots and passion. En Pointe Events is inspired by my first love—ballet. In ballet, being “en pointe” means precision, grace, and years of hard work, much like the effort and dedication that go into planning the perfect event. I see so many similarities between dance performances and weddings/events: every detail matters, timing is everything, and the final outcome should look effortless. With En Pointe Events, my goal is to make sure your special occasion is exactly that—on pointe, with every “t” crossed and every “i” dotted, leaving you with a flawless experience.

I’m incredibly proud of the level of care and dedication we bring to each and every event at En Pointe Events. As a full-service event planning company based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, our mission is to make sure your event is on point from start to finish. How do you keep your team’s morale high?

My biggest piece of advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is to embrace a servant leadership approach. I believe in leading by example and being fully present for my team, just as we are for our clients. At En Pointe Events, it’s all about creating a supportive, collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and heard. By prioritizing clear communication, sharing the workload, and giving recognition when it’s due, I help foster a culture where our team can thrive.

In the world of event planning, much like in a dance performance, every role matters. We work together to ensure each detail is executed flawlessly, and that requires trust, respect, and a shared commitment to excellence. Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

One resource that has significantly impacted my approach to management and entrepreneurship is the book Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. It’s a masterclass in negotiation and effective communication, which are both crucial skills in the event planning industry. The principles from the book have influenced the way I manage my team and interact with clients, teaching me the importance of active listening, empathy, and asking the right questions to truly understand the needs and concerns of others.
