We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylor Walker Sinning. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylor below.
Taylor, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?
I was a professional dancer for about five years and danced for the New Jersey Nets and for artists like Taylor Swift and Pitbull. During that time, I worked on getting my Master’s Degree in k-12 Physical Education and landed a teaching job on Long Island. About a year into teaching my now husband proposed and got a job offer in Portland Oregon. The headquarters for Nike and Adidas. During this time, a lot of my dance friends were transitioning into fitness modeling and I thought I would apply for representation and give it a try! About three months later I was modeling for some of the biggest names in fitness and won a nation-wide fitness model search with Wilhelmina Models. A whole career followed and I launched TaylorWalkerFit.com, which was the start of my digital footprint in 2013.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I think what sets me apart in the digital space is that I have the ability to pull from so many different areas of expertise and experience to create content for women of many ages and fitness backgrounds. Not only have I been working in fitness for 12 years, but I also created and birthed two children in the process. I have honed an approach to fitness that is relatable and authentic. I also have acquired certifications in pre/postnatal fitness and love teaching HypnoBirthing and acting as a Doula. My years of modeling and on camera work also helps me to be successful in UGC content creation.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Since leaving teaching, I had to constantly pivot as my husband climbed the corporate ladder. We would get to a new city, he would have success and get a new job offer and ultimately I ended up walking away from whatever I was cultivating at the time. That is when I decided a digital business me be the next best thing. When I launched TaylorWalkerFit.com, blogs were the hottest thing going. I started posting and it took me a full year to acquire a paid advertiser. With that said, I also decided to acquire fitness certifications and this helped me to be scrappy and work from anywhere our feet landed. If I can offer any advice, it would be to continue to be open to change. It will be the only constant in your life for years to come.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helps me continually acquire clients and have repeat customers is treating social media like the business it is. Being early to deadlines and delivering high-quality content has always been the goal. I also make sure to hold my value. In 2020, the influencer market skyrocketed and people started accepting rates that bottomed out the market. Because of my background, I truly believe that even with a smaller audience you can create impact and by making sure my content is delivered on-time and quality is never sub par.
