We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylor Stonack. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylor below.
Taylor, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
The social media landscape is changing. Gone are the days of the perfect flat lay and sharing photos. With the boom of TikTok and Instagram Reels, vertical video is the way to get ahead. I’ve had to shift my offerings and added a 2-hour in-person session where we work to create your vertical video for the month in one sitting! I’m talking Stories, Reels, TikTok Video! We record as much as time allows and we take care of all the editing afterward too.
Taylor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, Taylor S here. Founder of Sweet Potato Social. I’m a certified Social Media Strategist with a long history of working in the marketing and hospitality industry. I have never liked playing by the rules and always walked a bit off the beaten path that society tells me I should be walking on. I love people, believe in making a difference, and ’m obsessed with passionate business owners by helping to tell their story through social media.
I started my business after losing my job in the early days of the pandemic and have been able to create deep, meaningful relationships with all my clients and show them the importance of doing the same for theirs. I offer full social media management but have recently shifted gears and am focusing my efforts on my Vertical Video Workshops to help small business owners gain the confidence to show up on video.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I try to work strategically with my content by using content pillars and using data to see what’s working but the biggest amount of growth I saw with my account was when I did a 30-day Reels Challenge with myself. It’s exactly like it sounds. I posted one Reel, every day. I saw a huge spike in engagement and account growth overall. The best part is that those videos keep performing, so even in the times that I wasn’t as active, I was still seeing results.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I think trusting your own creativity is the first part. As creatives, it can be really scary to put our work out there. Early on in my creative journey though, I wish I had known about Canva, taken advantage of YouTube tutorials, and taken more classes. There’s always someone 10 steps ahead of you that’s willing to share what they know, and there’s also someone 10 steps behind you that’s ready to learn from you.
