We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylor Sowa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylor below.
Alright, Taylor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful in photography, one needs a blend of technical skills, creativity, and business acumen. It is an art as well, and as most know, art is subjective. To create that art does also require knowledge of your equipment and programs as well as the skill to execute. Creative vision and a unique style help in standing out. Additionally, understanding the market, networking, and effective marketing are crucial for building a client base and sustaining a career. Continuous learning and adaptability to new trends and technologies also play a significant role in long-term success. My business didn’t really start to take off until about 2 years ago, when I actually started putting more time and effort into making it successful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into photography at a very young age. My father was a wedding photographer also a landscape photographer. I took a camera everywhere I went, and when I had the chance to borrow my dads or grandmothers DSLR I took it. I was the one at parties and events that was assigned to photograph or record, but mostly kept it as a hobby. A friend of mine in 2014 (a few months after I bought my own DSLR) asked me if I would want to take her daughters milestone photos every few months. This is what really sparked me into the world of portraits. Overtime of slowly/ on and off working on my business I decided to really pour my heart into it in 2022. I very quickly then jumped into the world of weddings, and the rest is history! I know that between my love of love and capturing special and intimate moments brought me into the position that I was always meant to be in. This job is a lot of work, but it’s extremely rewarding.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Advertising has been a huge help on driving in new clients. Yes, I do get the word of mouth referrals, but I find that most people find me through my ads.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I love my clients! If you are on social media, I will absolutely be following you and interacting with you. I have numerous couples that moved out of state or just came here for their wedding. It doesn’t matter to me, I built a relationship with them and I’m not one to forget about those who I got to witness one of the most important days of their lives.
