We recently connected with Taylor Solberg and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When I started my journey with photography, it was all a risk if it would work out if it was meant to.
It was quite the journey filled with lots of ups and downs but so much unfolded and worked out!
Not knowing if I should pursue photography and filled with lots of uknowns of running a business, I followed what felt right and started the journey of photography.
Someone gifted me a camera with lenses, saying this is for you Taylor go spread your wings and fly!
I was accepted in photography school and started building my business in hoping someday I could do it full time, it was filled with unknowns and uncertainty if I could do it and all worth the risk!

Taylor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Taylor :) the owner of Taylor Hendrickson Photography!
I started my journey with photography over 10 years ago, I’ve always loved art and wanted to find something I could do with it for my life and career that was soulful.
I wasn’t quite sure of what I wanted to do in life til one day while leaving in New Zealand doing some soul searching, someone gifted me a camera with the words Taylor this is for you, go spread your wings and fly.
My whole world changed in an instant.
I started photography school at Ridgewater College that next fall and graduated in 2015 with my professional degree in photography.
I’ve been photographing ever since and was able to go full time with my business 7 years ago!
My husband and I stumbled on a house that was up for an auction and it was all meant to be, we’ve lived there coming up on 7 years and are always doing projects, making it our home, and are surrounded by our animals in the countryside in Atwater, MN.
I live for waking up early in the morning with a cup of coffee with the sunrise, always being barefoot, wildflowers & sunflowers, music, hikes, camping, spending time with my husband & animals, and being outdoors around nature as much as possible.
I specialize in photographing natural and real moments in life.
I offer small & intimate weddings and elopements, couples, maternity, children, families, seniors, branding, nature, lifestyle, and any moment in life.
Most of my work is based outdoors, being outside and in nature really helps capturing moments and stories naturally and that is always my goal to capture moments as natural as possible and make my clients feel super comfortable behind the camera and be in the moment.
Capturing moments and memories in life that people can have forever to hold onto, truly is one of the best parts about photography. I’ve also started selling my nature prints this last year and it has been so fun!
It’s truly such a rewarding career that really makes you take a step back and be in the moment, and see so much love and light in this life!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Surrounding yourself with other creatives!
It’s all about community and relationships, we are all so connected to each other and being around other creatives and other people forces you to bloom and grow and such a crucial part on your journey to keep going and growing along the way!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Getting to do what I love and my passion for others!
Capturing moments and memories that people will get to hold onto forever and their stories just fills your cup right up!
Walking away from any story or session I get to capture is always such a gift and knowing those moments will be cherished and make an impact fuels my creativity and passion with each and everyone.
It is truly a gift and I’m so grateful for it everyday getting to do what I love and have the support of my clients, friends, and family!
