We were lucky to catch up with Taylor Shields-Lewis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
Yes I take vacations. Vacations are actually mandatory for me. Just how I schedule meetings, consultations..etc. As a creative it is very easy for us to get stuck in a creative block where we aren’t inspired to create, inspired to grow in our craft. It’s something that I can’t really explain exactly but if you’re a creative then you know exactly what I mean. So, vacationing is apart of my self-care. It is mandatory for me to vacation and to explore and be inspired by different cities and states. My advice for entrepreneurs is to always make sure you are putting yourself and your mental health first. When you are healthier, happy and inspired….your business strives gracefully.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I initially went to school to become a Dr. However, I was always inspired by fashion. It was my sophomore year of college and I became the president of the Fashion Club and It was my job to curate and foresee fashion shows. I instantly fell in love..and it was then that I knew I wanted to feel that feeling forever. That same year I created my brand “Taylor’d Styling Services” I provide services from Personal Styling to Creative Direction to Packing Services. The favorite part of what I do is giving my clients a feeling of confidence and security in themselves. I have one particular services titled “Lights.Camera.Action” and its where I style and creatively direct a photoshoot for my clients. Clients have chosen this service to celebrate birthdays, divorces, being a live, giving birth, getting married…etc. The magic is creating a story in the form of wardrobe and photography. I want every client, follower and fan that I encounter to know that this is more than a job to me. It’s my passion…it’s my home.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing others enjoy your art.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I know some people have love-hate relationships with social media but it has been the best source for me and my business. I still see the beauty in social media and if utilized correctly it can be very rewarding.
