We recently connected with Taylor Sanders and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Taylor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
When I began my career in corporate as a Social Media Specialist I remember how difficult it felt working in the environment. Now as a Freelance Social Media Manager, I created a healthy remote work flow that simplifies social media and helps you not get overwelhemed with the icks of social media like algorithms and trends. I help my clients map out a content and engagement strategy that works with their schedules. Work doesn’t NEED to feel difficult in 2023 and as an advocate for mental health I encourage systems that are realistic for you lifestyle.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi, my name is Taylor Renee and I’m your new favorite social media manager. I started my social media career working with brands as a content creator and fell in love with marketing and pursued social media full time as a corporate social media specialist for a Baltimore based finance podcast. Like many during the start of the recession I was laid off from my corporate job but I didn’t let that stop me and I decided to take my skills as social media specialist to social media management. After just a few months I began accepting clients and working with amazing industry professionals on marketing campaigns and projects before I knew it my side hustle became my full time job and I loved doing it.
As a social media manager and content creator I’m so proud that I’m able to help my client grow their empires on social media. I’ve help my clients increase engagement, build sustainable communities online, monetize their socials, and increase their followers!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I lost my job I was devestated, I’m a very driven and goal oriented person and I thought I did everything the “right way”. Almost 12 months later I’ve realized the truth is it was an absolute blessing. I love being my own boss and working with clients that I like and traveling frequently and being about to work a career that I’m passionate about.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I think a lesson that people in the social media industry have to get over is that they are never going to bedone learning, trends and changes are always happening.
