We recently connected with Taylor Ross and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor , appreciate you joining us today. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I have made as an actor was mentoring under the top coaches in the entertainment industry. Not only are they helping me hone my acting abilities to eventually becoming a top tier actor, but they are also giving me the confidence to believe in myself as an artist, allowing me better networking opportunities.
How did I network to ultimately get the agents I’ve had? My acting coach. How did I show my acting chops to book incredibly fun projects that I’ll be proud I’ve been a part of for years to come? My acting coach. Who was there when my car had a flat tire and I needed roadside assistance? Well, that was actually AAA, but you get the point.
In all seriousness, acting coaches are the most essential element an actor has to succeed.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I think one of the most important things I want to convey to the Canvas Rebel audience is that I’m a woman on a mission to tell stories through my craft of overcoming, healing, and thriving.
Also, I want to help other women gain self confidence and self love, which ultimately leads to actions which reflects honoring oneself. While booking a shampoo commercial would be amazing (and residual checks don’t hurt either), I always want to be a part of projects and messages bigger than myself. At the end of the day, aren’t we all just a bunch of people who want to see themselves and their personal/unique stories be conveyed on screen? So that we might feel seen? Gain a different perspective? Learn to laugh through it? I want to be the one who conveys those messages in a positive way.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot in the unfortunate year of 2020 (as I’m sure most of us did). While studios and casting offices were on indefinite hiatus, I took matters into my own hands: I became the self appointed LA mural girl where I’d pose in front of Los Angeles’ wall art, and post those photos to social media. I also filmed some original comedy skits for my IG feed for good measure. I thought if I can’t get in front of any casting directors or on any soundstages, this was the next best way that I could still get my face out there and show some of my talents.
My hunch was right. It gained enough traction to where I had several directors and producers reach out to me to begin collaborations. There is power in learning to be flexible with the times.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
One of the best resources I wish I had known about much earlier on was self taping my auditions at actual studios. You just can’t beat the quality and lighting, and having a built in reader who’s also an actor helps tremendously. Some places charge as little as two venti sized lattes from Starbucks: it’s worth it.
Another amazing resource is using Linktree that showcases your casting profiles, reels, IMDB and other materials all in one places, so that it’s quickly accessible to casting directors.
But my greatest resource is seeking a mentor who can help you navigate Hollywood! I chose Wendy Alane Wright of Hollywood Winners Circle and I haven’t looked back ⭐️
