We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Reedy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
I’m extremely dedicated to serving my community. I’ve had my own non-profit organization that works towards building the community while uplifting young black women. I’ve coordinated back to school drives, prom giveaways, clothing and canned food drives, feeding the homeless, and working with churches and nursing homes.
Growing up my family has always gave back when we could. During my time in my undergraduate career I donated to multiple families during Christmas seasons, sponsored babies with diapers, and sponsored college students with dorm necessities. In college I also held the position as the community service chair for the 100 Collegiate Women of America where I actively planned events that directly serve the organization and Statesboro.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My brand is everything to me. Under Keeping Up With Taylor Alexis, many things are being offered. You can find services ranging from hair, nails, lashes, makeup, tinting, and waxing. Our main website features blogs offering tips and tricks for all things beauty and fashion and also has an online shop selling wigs, accessories, press-ons, and cosmetics.
I’ve been building my brand since I was in high school and I am now a business administration graduate student in the school of business at Clark Atlanta University. Beauty and fashion have always been interests of mine so it was something that was easy for me to build upon. In high school, I attended cosmetology classes and was able to start building on my skills. At my undergraduate institution, Georgia Southern, I was blessed with the opportunity to promote my business to thousands of girls which not only allowed me to grow my business as well as produced better work.
Unlike others, my business offers a ton of different things and services that they can’t go anywhere else to get at once. In the future, I plan to introduce new things to my brand. 1 on 1 classes, apparel, body care, e-books, and braiding and locing.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Building clientele isn’t easy at all. Over the past few years, I’ve been blessed with a consistent growing clientele in Statesboro, Georgia. This new source of clientele was easy to come by and it was constantly growing because of me being located next to my college campus. However, don’t let the word easy confuse you. Building my brand and my quality took hard work but my area and situation provided me with an advantage in promoting my work.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Others may disagree, but I believe social media has helped small businesses tremendously. One of my biggest marketing strategies for building my clients has been through social media and promoting and posting content. A lot of people buy things based on what they see and to me, social media provides a way for potential clients to search through pictures of styles they may want. This can also be a way to post promotional material that can potentially bring in new customers.
