We recently connected with Taylor Paige and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
A part of me has always known I would pursue a creative career path. As a young child, strangers would approach my parents in the mall, stopping them to ask if they thought of putting me into acting. When I was seven years old I went to my first audition. The casting director prompted me to say a line about asking for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was the first time in my young life that I had experienced stage fright. I couldn’t say my lines. I was totally and completely frozen. Choking on my words during my first audition didn’t hold me back for long. When I was eight, I decided I’d become a professional singer/songwriter. I remember sitting on my bedroom floor, papers scattered everywhere, riddled with lyrics. At ten years old, I joined my school’s band class. I played the clarinet. It was then that I found my love for being on stage. I continued to play the clarinet until I went to high school. There, I would join band playing bass clarinet, a much larger version of the clarinet. I was also in the marching band. We were the best in the state and even traveled to Indianapolis to compete in Bands Of America. Not only did I join band in my first year of high school, but also choir. During my sophomore year, we traveled to Chicago to compete against other schools. It was an incredible experience. During my junior year, I was presented with the opportunity to start modeling. Since I had no plans for college yet, I decided this was what I would do. After graduating, I moved away from my parent’s house in the Inland Empire to live in Los Angeles where I continued to work as a model for several years up until the pandemic. Since the pandemic, I’ve put modeling to the side to focus on my career as an influencer. Since relocating to Denver in January of 2022, I’ve worked with brands like Members Only, Belief Cosmetics, and OtterBox.
Taylor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been pursuing a career in social media content creation since 2016. When the pandemic began, I decided to take my career more seriously by growing my creative skills. I’ve grown my skills in graphic design, social media management, and video editing. Since 2020, I’ve managed various social media platforms such as Instagram, Reels, and Pinterest for brands while creating my own lifestyle content. I’m a multi-faceted creative. While I specialize in managing Instagram and Pinterest accounts for brands on a day-to-day basis, I also partner with brands to create short-form videos for TikTok and Reels. I’m currently most proud of my growth on my personal Pinterest account. With a lot of consistency and tons of passion, I’ve amassed over 1 million unique monthly viewers on my personal Pinterest and over 30 thousand followers on my personal Instagram. When I moved to Denver I started a YouTube channel to document my lifestyle and other creative endeavors. Alongside creating and editing for my own YouTube channel, I edit videos for other influencers and their channels.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Having been on social media for about ten years now, I’ve built up a good following across platforms, the most being on Pinterest and instagram. When I first joined social media, I was on Pinterest, Instagram, and Vine. During my time on Vine I discovered I could build a following through posting lip syncing videos; really cringe, I know. Social Media is constantly changing. Everyone is aware Instagram is no longer what it once was, Vine is no longer with us and has since been replaced by TikTok, it can be difficult to keep up. I continued to post and post and post. Sometimes, you get lucky and your content performs well. Sometimes it flops! That’s okay! I think it’s better to continue posting rather than becoming discouraged. A Flop Era doesn’t last forever if you keep posting, but it will if you stop all together. You have to flop before you can SLAY!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve had to unlearn what success mean to me. Success is defined in two ways. The first being that success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. The second being the good or bad outcome of an undertaking. I believe we socially align success with finances, I’ve had to unlearn that attachment. Success can come in many different forms, riches being just one. I now believe we find success in our daily habits, routines, and the ways in which we respond to adversity.
