We recently connected with Taylor Nelson and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
Before covid, Our Sister’s community would put on a Christmas event for a few hundred at risk youth each winter. It was such a humble experience being able to put smiles on the children’s face… but I think what was most rewarding for me personally, was seeing how relieved the parents were that they didn’t have to come out of pocket for Christmas.
When I tell you we had all the good stuff for our kids, I mean we did not disappoint! We had food sponsors, toy sponsors, cash sponsors, book sponsors… I mean the list goes on and on! I emphasize this because often times I have observed how public communities treat these kind of groups almost as if they should be appreciative of whatever they are handed and I TOTALLY disagree with that way of thinking!
Now that we are climbing out of what will be considered our new norm, I am eager to get this project up and running again!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

This foundation is geared towards bridging the gender wage gap throughout the world, while combating the simultaneous oppressions to which all walks of life are subjected to. Pushing for higher education across the world, Our Sisters is a community that is affirmed by a support system that utilizes an array of resources to cater to their needs. This takes place by providing training and tools that are paramount to the success of our adolescent human beings. It is our intention that the youth with whom we work will be able to continue to develop their educational capacity, while providing the tools necessary to flourish their individual craft(s). Hence, calling the community Zen(prenuers).
This foundation is currently made up of millennial individuals who, together, are united by their many unique experiences, and through their stories will empower more humans to do the same.
Our founders, a team of young professional women, provide need-based resources, mentoring, and career guidance curated towards the Online Marketing industry for young individuals striving for what their definition of success looks like.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The biggest takeaway I can give is “Don’t Count The Likes, Count The Sales.”
Often times we confuse how our followers translate to dollars and its soooo important to look at analytics over follower count in order to grow.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Our Sisters has always been a side hustle but as of winter 2022, my partner Bishop and myself expanded the brand into Our Sisters Properties!
We created this space to not only give the OSOT community a place to find peace, but for all zen/entrepreneurs looking for a space they can not only get work done but have self care time!
Our side hustle is officially a $$$ operating business and we officially began seeing a ROI (return on investment) as of February 2023! Along with that, we now have content creators reach out to us at least once per week asking to utilize our space… I think its safe to say, Bishop and I created the perfect pad for our Zen(prenuers) – The Garden District.
