We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylor Mount. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylor below.
Alright, Taylor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Something Blue and Co. was a vision created between two best friends. My best friend, Alexa Mayewski, was my Maid of Honor for my wedding in October 2022. Throughout the process of planning a wedding as a bride and planning a bachelorette and shower as a MOH, Alexa and myself found a passion and interest that sparked a creative idea. Being three hours away from each other, the event planning gave us an excuse to chat almost everyday and allowed us to use our organization and creative energy. We wanted to provide our services for others around us as our friends and family also began their newly engaged journeys. As we spoke with friends and family members, we realized the brides-to-be were so stressed and anxious they were not able to enjoy their engagements. We immediately stepped in to assist and as a result Something Blue and Co. was born in June 2022.
As my wedding came and went; as well as, our friends and family’s weddings, we began building our cliental. Alexa and myself have had exciting and major life events occur to us over our year and a half in business. Alexa decided to step away from the business to pursue other adventures. However, my husband found a passion for helping others through officiating weddings. My husband, James, and myself have decided to take on Something Blue and Co. as a family owned business that has a goal of helping others feel the love and magic we felt on their wedding day. Even though James and I are still in the beginning stages of our business, we see a bright future where we can expand and have other family members added to the team to provide them an opportunity to share their passions with others.
Taylor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Something Blue and Co. is a small event planning and day of wedding coordinating business. We assist in planning weddings, bachelor/ bachelorettes, bridal showers, baby showers, and any other get togethers. We also assist with the creative vision of the celebrations and will set up as well as break down the decor. We also provide services in day-0f-coordinating where we work with the venue and vendors to adhere to the day of schedule. We provide vendor research and recommendations that are tailored to each couple’s unique style. We can also officiate weddings. Something Blue and Co. prides itself on working with people in order to bring their dreams to fruition with ease and relaxation.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We are still in the beginning stages of creating our own social media presence; however, it continues to grow. We began with facebook and instagram. We also created a website where we ordered a template from Etsy and customized it for our needs. We used our own life stories and those closest to us to add to our social media content. As we began to build our cliental, we continued to post showing our pride in the business. I believe we continue to grow our social media presence through being genuine and honest with our followers. We continue to look into ways to expand our social media presence through Tik Tok, interviews, bridal expos, and magazines.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele was initially through social media. We are still a young business, but have had a few clients come to us through recommendations. We focus on making sure each of our clients feel they have our undivided attention. We welcome them with open arms by being honest and genuine. We want our clients to feel comfortable working with us and feel they have gained new friends. I believe putting our clients’ needs first and listening to them gives them the confidence to recommend our services to their friends and family. We appreciate all of our clients.
