Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Lambert. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Taylor, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
When I was 18, I was sexually assaulted by a man I trusted. A year and a half later I underwent my first brain surgery, followed by another just three months later. Then, four years later my tumor grew back and I underwent proton therapy, (being the second ever to receive treatment at the new proton therapy treatment center at Huntsman Cancer Institute and becoming the poster child for the center as a result); and then in November of last year I underwent my third brain surgery – a surgery that left me nearly half blind. Through the hellscape of these trials was one certain thing – my art. My art comforted me, entertained me, and beginning in 2021 my art became my sole source of income and I started TSLambert Art. My mission as an artist is to do more than create artworks – it’s to help others heal as they mourn the loss of loved ones, it’s to help businesses and homes feel complete with unique imagery that captures the soul of the business/home and that establishes the wanted vibe of the space. My mission is to make meaningful art affordable and approachable to all.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
TSLambert Art is a company that is just me and my artwork. I do memorial portraits, regular portraits, massive murals, logo design, illustration, and any other art commission you can think of. What sets me apart is that I’m equally gifted in all art disciplines – if you can think it up, I can make it happen.
I am not afraid of a good challenge, even if approached about something I’ve never done before, I will learn how to do it and turn out an impressive piece for any client – every client is the most important client.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Back when going through proton (radiation) therapy, I would get up early, paint for hours, take a break just long enough to drive to the treatment center to receive my daily dose of treatment, then drive back to the mural I was working on and get back to work for another several hours. I did this through an entire month of undergoing treatment five days per week. Through the incredibly exhausting time my passion for murals was ignited and my company was fortified.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Almost all of my clientele come from social media or word of mouth, whether they found me on instagram or Facebook or I saw a post from them asking for an artist for a project and reached out to them myself. (I also offer a client referral program that gives discounts to both the referee and referer). But I suppose the best advice I can give is to post consistently and build rapport with clients so they recommend you to others.
