Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Justin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Taylor, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?

After graduating from college in 2013, I moved to Chicago, a city where I knew no one and had never lived before. It was a challenge to find my footing in a new place without any family or close friends around. But I refused to let myself stay cooped up in my apartment, and instead made it my mission to explore the city every chance I got. As I started to venture out, I found a community of like-minded people who were also seeking adventure and exploration. Inspired by my experiences, I created a blog called The Haute Seeker to share my journey with others who were looking for cool and interesting things to do in Chicago. My goal was to create a resource for anyone who wanted to embrace the diversity and culture of the city, whether they were a transplant or a local.

Taylor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Throughout my life, I have always been an active, creative, and curious individual. I am agile, inquisitive, and comfortable in every setting, which has opened unique doors for me and allowed me to extend my passions into a corporate and entrepreneurial setting. Being a well-versed individual has always been important to me. I yearn for information and strive to learn about the world around me, which has served me in so many amazing ways. Over the last seven years, this curiosity has continued to fuel the growth of my platform The Haute Seeker.com. My sole mission has been to inspire individuals who are culturally curious to go out and explore the diverse, hidden gems of their local communities, to foster a deeper appreciation for where they live. The authentic content I produce resonates with my readers and inspires them to explore and experience the wonders of Chicago and other cities that we cover. It brings me great joy to know that my platform has played a part in bringing people together and encouraging them to embrace all the gems (hidden and in plain sight) cities around the world have to offer.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

There are a few, but as a blogger, my main channel of communication with my audience is through my blog. Looking back, I realize that I could have done so much better if I had known how to set up my website in a way that would have made it more engaging, readable, and optimized for search engines. However, I have learned so much since then, and have taken several courses that have been instrumental in helping me improve my website and reach out to my readers more effectively.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

The foundation of a strong reputation within your market is built upon the community that you surround yourself with. From friends and family to coworkers, these are the people who support you in the early stages of your journey and continue to root for you no matter what. I am grateful for my community who have helped me to grow and sustain my reputation. It’s through their support and encouragement that I’ve been able to reach new heights and inspire others along the way.
