We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Hammer & Taylor Ehle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor & Taylor, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Starting Thistle House was, without a doubt, a leap of faith. At the time, we were still considered young designers—full of ambition but admittedly not experts in the industry or in running a business. What we did have, however, was a clear vision, a deep love for modern floral design, and the willingness to take risks in order to build something truly special.
We knew enough to get started, but we also understood that experience comes from doing. Rather than waiting until we felt 100% “ready” (because, let’s be honest, does that moment ever really come?), we chose to dive in, embracing every challenge as a lesson. The first year was full of learning curves—navigating pricing, logistics, client expectations, and the behind-the-scenes work that comes with running a floral studio. There were moments of uncertainty, but we were committed to refining our craft, improving our processes, and proving ourselves in a competitive market.
Taking that risk was the best decision we could have made. It allowed us to grow into the designers and business owners we are today. We paid our dues by learning from our mistakes, and built a brand that reflects not just our love for flowers, but our dedication to creating an experience that feels as intentional and artful as the designs themselves.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Thistle House is a modern floral design studio that creates lush, flower-forward arrangements for weddings, events, corporate retreats, brand activations, and intimate elopements. Our clients love intentional, artful florals that don’t just fill a space but transform it. One of the biggest challenges we help solve? Knowing where to prioritize the floral budget. Not every moment needs an abundance of flowers—some, like cocktail hour, come and go in a flash. We help our clients focus on the high-impact areas where flowers will truly shine and be enjoyed the longest.
Working primarily in Las Vegas means every event is an adventure, whether it’s a luxury ballroom installation or an elopement deep in the desert. Some days, our “office” is 40 minutes outside the city, creating a floral monolith in the middle of nowhere. Those moments—where we turn an empty landscape into something magical—are what we love most.
What sets us apart is our commitment to floral artistry. We create designs that feel modern, intentional, and full of life, with every bloom chosen for its impact. Our goal is not just to fill a space with flowers but to craft an experience that feels unforgettable.
Our clients trust us because we see flowers as more than just décor—they’re an experience. Every petal, every stem is chosen with intention, not just to look beautiful but to create a feeling. We pour our hearts into every arrangement, making sure each design tells a story and leaves a lasting impression.
What makes us most proud is the connection we build with our clients. We don’t just drop off flowers and call it a day—we’re in it with you, making the process fun, exciting, and stress-free. We love being part of our clients’ biggest moments, making the process easy and enjoyable while bringing passion and creativity to the spaces we touch.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Our social media is always evolving—both in how we approach it and how our audience engages with us. It’s funny because the posts we think will take off sometimes barely get seen, while the ones we throw together in five minutes can unexpectedly blow up. We’ve learned to embrace the unpredictability!
Of course, we have the data to see when our audience is active and what they respond to, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is to just post. If we could give one piece of advice, it would be not to overthink it. Just like our clients trust us to create something beautiful without micromanaging every detail, we’ve learned to trust our own instincts when it comes to content. The biggest growth we’ve seen has come from showing up consistently and staying true to our brand—without stressing over perfection.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy we’ve used to grow our clientele is Account-Based Marketing (ABM). We first learned about it from a talented lead generation manager, and once we started applying it, we saw a huge difference.
ABM is all about focusing on specific accounts—potential clients we know would benefit from what Thistle House has to offer—rather than casting a wide net and hoping for the best. We find these accounts by combing through the internet with a fine-tooth comb, using platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn to connect with other industry professionals in our area.
From there, we create a strategy to reach out in a meaningful way—learning about their needs and identifying how we can contribute to their success. After all, when you share an industry, there’s a good chance you can help each other grow while showing up for clients in the best way possible.
What we love about ABM is that it’s intentional. Instead of waiting for the right clients to find us, we take the initiative to connect with people who align with our values and aesthetic. It’s a long game, but when done well, it leads to stronger relationships, better collaborations, and a client base that truly trusts and values our work.
