Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Hall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Taylor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission is the empower people through authentic expression of self. We encourage that through our carefully curated collection of authentic preloved designer handbags. Not only are these bags getting a second life, they offer people the courage to be themselves and embody the confidence the designer intended.
Wearing designer isn’t just about status. It’s about detail. People appreciate details because it is in the details that you communicate, you find art, you find your self expression, your identity. Fashion allows you to highlight parts of your identity and personality without words.
The BAGPHIC team is very big on having a good mixture of timeless and classic pieces to suit multiple aesthetics even across several eras. We appreciate diversity on several levels in the business and we do our best to reflect that in pricing, selection, and team members. We have a range of items from everyday to ultra premium options.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Taylor Hall. I am the marketing manager for BAGPHIC. I found myself in the luxury resale industry in 2024. I have been in marketing for years at this point, but have been lucky enough to transition into marketing which I love so much. I have always had an interest in working in a creative and fast paced environment.
I think what sets us apart from others is how much we genuinely care about the relationships we build. I believe very strongly that loyalty goes both ways. It is hard to find people who genuinely care or who are willing to be real enough with you as a customer in letting you know what really is going to suit your purpose.
We are proud of the quality in our bags, we are very big on making sure that we only have authentic items. We have an whole team and system for authentication on top of Entrupy. We want to make sure that potential customers understand our eye for quality and our commitment to authenticity and honesty. To help build trust we Live Stream on WHATNOT every Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:00 PM PST so that people can see the condition of the bags live.
We do our best to ensure that you can confidently shop with us online. The live streaming is to help kind of recreate that shopping experience where ever you are viewing. It’s a great opportunity to see what we have in real time, make requests, make offers, ask questions, and get to know us as the BAGPHIC team as well. We love interacting and meeting people.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The true meaning of quality over quantity doesn’t just applies to products, it applies to people and beyond that. Its much deeper than we conventionally understand.
I found that it is better to attract quality (buyers) versus quantity (buyers) because in the luxury resale market, that is the motto.
I would rather have 10 high quality items than 100 low quality ones. Reason being, quality makes an impact. You know the item will serve the customer for a long time and that’s the point. Also on a more shallow note, who doesn’t like well-made things. People are looking for experiences, we’re sensory beings. It’s important to think about who you’re talking to, how you are talking to them, and how you make them feel.
The experience goes beyond their time in the store or online. It extends to the time the spent and the use or the product. People develop attachment and it may sound weird, but sometimes they even develop relationships with things they interact with on a daily basis. Like a car that you drive every day, it is reliable, fuel-efficient, you trust it, you love it, you take care of it.
But all in all this is basic ingredient of loyalty and trust.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I think in marketing there is a lot of pivoting that happens but if your asking about me personally, I have pivoted a couple of times. I wanted to be a journalist, but I went to an international school for a year and chose a different major because they didn’t have Journalism. I ended up selecting international relations & linguistics, then switched back to journalism when I returned to the states and added an emphasis in PR and minored in communication studies. But I currently work in marketing.
