We recently connected with Taylor Gonzales and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
When I first started my business, i started with a friend of mine who had helped as my editor! In October of 2020, we had the idea to start something based around authentic relationships and storytelling through photography. Through the rest of 2020, we asked friends to model for us all the while of making logos and a social media presence. It wasn’t until 2021 that things had shifted, for what the business is now. Through 2021, I learned how to edit and use the proper software as well as gallery delivery. In the end of 2021 I shifted the business to just be myself and since then, i’ve been a solo person in this operation. Without my friend helping me, I would’ve never learned how to edit and use the software, as well as getting my start!
Finally in 2022, by the support of my mom, I launched my very first website. Gaining more attention via the web definitely helped my business grow from just another hobbyist to a small business owner.

Taylor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who I haven’t met, Hi! I’m Taylor Gonzales and I own Taylor Mai Memories. I’m a photographer who specializes in all things couples (maternity, newborns, wedding, elopements) and individuals.
I started my business in 2020 with just a simple idea for some extra income and i turned my hobby into a part time job! My business of photography is based around genuine relationships and showing the authentic story of who you are! You can follow along my journey via Instagram or Facebook!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal of my photography business is let people know that my photography isn’t some sort of mask. I am all about the best version of who you are and I want to do my best by showing your now version. Whether your now version is in its lowest point or on the highest mountain, my goal and mission is to make you feel seen, loved, and beautiful or handsome in my work.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The best resources I wish i knew about the beginning are some facebook groups i am a part of. From styled shoot groups that help me gain more exposure and content to model call groups to connect with more people looking for some fun times! Not only have i met some amazing creative based resources but i’ve also let some amazing creatives! From some of my best photography gals and guys to creative models, I love the little collective of people that I have the opportunity being around.
