We were lucky to catch up with Taylor Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
TAYLOR, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I feel very fortunate to have started my business at just the right time. I had been working in the entertainment industry on the representation side, and while I loved the work, I didn’t feel I was able to express my creativity as much as I would have liked.
Reflecting on the feeling that I started my business at the right time I feel like I learned to trust my instincts, The concept of my candle line came to me like a flash, and I listened to my gut. That was the path I was meant to take in that moment of my life.
Stepping into entrepreneurship was and remains daunting of course. But Ive found listening to my intuition and trusting the plan ive set out for myself has payed off beautifully. My advice is to take the leap, trust yourself and go for it!

CLR Los Angeles blends luxury with fun. Balancing mesmerizing fragrances and innovative
design, CLR is redefining the fragrance market. Founded in 2020 by Taylor Davis, CLR offers a
candle for every person, clr and mood. Made entirely in Los Angeles founded entirely by people
of clr, women, or LGBTQIA team members, A favorite song evokes emotions. So does a
favorite scent. At CLR, we believe a favorite clr can do this as well, so we’ve developed a
collection of clrs at the heart of every mood.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I belive the quality of our products helped build and solidify CLR’s reputation within the market. From the very beginning of the brand I made it very clear that from top to bottom my candles are of the highest quality. When I was working candles were my little splurges, my simple luxuries. I wanted to make sure that anyone who spends their hard earned money on CLR gets an exceptional product.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met CLR’s Vice President, Brice Oates, by simply shopping for candles. I spent a lot of time (and money) at Candle Delirium in West Hollywood. I was shopping one day and mentioned that I was thinking of starting my own candle brand. It was perfect because Brice also worked as a consultant for emerging candle brands. Who better to advise than someone who worked at one of the industry leading home fragrance stores? It was truly a match made in heaven. Brice helps me look at thing from the perspective of vendors and store owners. Brice has ingrained in me an awareness of the fact that my job doesnt stop at the handoff of my candles to stores. Being aware and available to help make CLR a successful brand in all of my vendors stores is crucial to a successful business relationship!
