Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Cravey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Taylor, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with inspirations and heroes. Are there any historical figures you look up to?
I have idolized Amelia Earhart since I picked up a biography about her in 5th grade. I did countless book reports and speech competitions about her life and accomplishments. She was the first woman brought to my attention that had lived unbound by societal constraints, or rather had forged ahead despite them. Earhart became The First Woman to accomplish so much in aviation- a field that had been created and dominated by men. She was an outspoken member of the National Women’s Party and an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. Earhart has always been a figure I admire for her initiative, virtue, and courage. Her mysterious disappearance during her attempt to become the first woman to complete a flight around the globe is an example of the true wonder and awe I hold for her character. Her significance was not only what she accomplished, but that the faraway goals she set out to do- that with her gumption, and a good pair of wings, she could succeed at her passions.

Taylor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I can describe my self and my business in one word: photographer. I’ve been making art since I gained motorized skills and I’ve been taking photos since I touched a camera. For me, photography is a tangible method of seeing a piece, an aspect of life and showing it through my eyes. I decided to freelance so that I could follow my heart and act on inspirations, even when they inevitably transform and develop. In 2016 when I graduated from UNT with a BFA in Studio Art with a Concentration on Photography, I labelled myself a Commercial photographer and specialized in food photography. Since then I have expanded my services to include not only a variation of categories I photograph, but also a traveling photo booth party bus I named Big Blu, printing services and digitizing home movies from outdated technology. I am proud to be a ‘Jack of all trades’, and excited to keep expanding my skills and business.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
There’s nothing like word of mouth. I’ve found that people like people more than they don’t, and if they like your work they’ll talk about it.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I find joy in being able to articulate a narrative through imagery. It’s incredible to me that I have the power to create resonation within others, that a simple photograph can connect us.
