We were lucky to catch up with Taylor Conley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
Its always great when family and friends support my business. When I first started I would always reach out to them to be models and help me capture different ideas to help polish my skills. When friends or family inquire about my services it is the ultimate compliment! Collaborating on ideas and designs help me capture the best images. Proper planning is vital to a successful photoshoot! Equipment, location and models are important to a success job and without those, it becomes very difficult to carry out the task. Some challenges I face dealing with family and friends is punctuality! There was a time I booked a photoshoot with a friend, gathered equipment and booked a studio and my subject didn’t show up. When booking studio spaces and gathering equipment, it costs money, and when models do not show up for these days all of that time and money goes down the drain. Some valuable and expensive lessons learned.
Taylor , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Taylor Conley and I am the Owner and Director of ‘Millions of Memories Photography Company’. A Los Angeles based photography company, formerly known as Hollywood TC Productions. I entered this creative industry from youtube! I started off making youtube videos of weddings and baby showers and car shows! I used my camera for this things that I loved and I enjoyed the editing process and making people look good. The feedback that I got from my videos let me know that I was heading in the right direction. While filming videos here and there, I would always get question about pictures. At first I wasn’t taking pictures at all but i decided to give it a try. Videos will always tell a story but the art of photography will never die! And from that point, I dove into the craft. Spending hours on learning and researching photo taking, I knew that I had to put in the footwork. I reached out to friends and asked them to be my models. My pictures started off shaking but I knew I had a skill and a natural eye for photography. I was excited to grow and learn in this field and see where it could take me.
What sets me apart from others is my willingness to please my clients! I never put a limit on how many images they will receive in return! I’m all about getting the PERFECT shot. No matter how long it takes, no matter how tired my arms are from holding the camera, we will get the perfect shot.
What I want people to know about the company is that we will bend over backwards to fulfill your requests.
Some of the photography services we offer include:
Corporate Headshots, event photography, Behind the scenes, portraits, themed shoots & sports photos.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal for this creative journey is to continue to grow and reach a wide range of clients. As the founder of this company, I aim to be a household name in the photography business. So much so, that I have a team of photographers that represent the brand and we service the greater Los Angeles area with our art. If you’re interested in that, Millions of Memories has a home for you.
The current task to growing our business is purchasing a studio space that we can hold our photoshoots. So that we do not need to outsource our locations.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
There are a few things that really helped me. One being word of mouth, I have had friends recommend my business to others and I have booked some high profile jobs. I am blessed to have a network of friends that would put me in positions to be successful. Also my professionalism and my work speaks for itself!. I pride myself on being very friendly and open with all my clients. I give them insight on my process of capturing and editing their images, and they love that!.
