We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Cezanne a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Taylor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I’m extremely happy as a business owner and I would not choose to have a regular job again, but I’d be lying if I said I never think about what my life could be like if I clocked out at 5pm. There are days where things feel overwhelming, and my mind wonders what it would be like if I could show up, clock in, and clock out without all the added pressure of making decisions and thinking 5 steps ahead.
I had one of these moments just a few days ago. I was in the middle of juggling multiple projects, planning content, managing my pipeline and brand deals, and wrapping up details on my new puppy guide. On top of that, I was behind schedule on a very important project. I remember sitting at my desk and just thinking “would I be happier having a job that I could clock out of and just forget all of this stress?”.
But then I thought about why I started in the first place. I love being my own boss, I’ve build something from the ground up and it’s not just a business – it’s a reflection of who am I and how hard I work. I’m driven by my passion, making dog training more accessible and easier to understand. I try not to be so hard on myself because this is truly my dream life, but, we are all our own worst critics. I get to decide how my days look. I have the freedom to do what I want, when I want to, and that’s truly living to me.
So, while the thought of a regular job pops up here and there, I always come back to the fact that being a business owner brings me fulfillment that a 9-to-5 wouldn’t. It’s a trade-off, but one I’m proud to make every day.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi! I’m Taylor Cezanne, a full-time content creator and business owner. I create beginner-friendly, easy to understand, and positive dog training content to new puppy owners on Tiktok, IG, and YouTube. Through my brand PuptoPro, I sell digital downloadable guides to help my followers train their dogs to be well-mannered pups.
What sets me apart is my approach: I make dog training simple, relatable, and fun – without any of the negative reinforcement tactics like prong collars or punishment. Everything I do is based on positive reinforcement, and I focus on making training something that people enjoy doing with their dogs rather than something that feels like a chore.
I think one of the things I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built. My followers often tell me that my content doesn’t just help them with training, but it also helps them feel more confident as dog owners. Knowing I’ve made that kind of impact is incredibly fulfilling.
For any potential customers and followers, the main thing I want them to know is that my socials and PuptoPro are here to support you through every stage of your puppy’s life. Whether you are just starting with a new puppy or need advice later on, I’m committed to offering resources that are practical, effective, and kind. I believe dog training should be accessible to everyone, which is why I’m constantly working on new ways to help dog owners wherever they are in their journey.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience up by focusing on creating value-driven content that was relatable and easy to understand. Also, posting on a consistent basis. When you do those two things – you will grow a community FAST. I started on Tiktok, where videos gain traction well, and then moved that content over to IG and YT. I focus on making short-form, vertical videos so that I can get as many eyes on my content as possible. The key is showing up regularly and engaging with my audience (even if it’s only 3 people!), so that they feel heard and I can tweak my content to fit exactly their needs.
If anyone is just now starting their content creation journey, my best advice is to not overthink it. For example, if you were starting an in-person run club in your city, you would put up posters everywhere to spread the word that you’re interested in meeting other runners. You’d show up at the time you said you would. You would help facilitate conversations between members. You’d encourage conversations, talking between members, and be a great leader, always listening to feedback. That’s how I approach social media. It doesn’t have to be confusing or complicated!
Don’t try to be perfect; just be real and helpful. Find your niche, understand your audience’s pain points, and speak directly to them. Engaging with your community is just as important as the content itself. It’s about building relationships, not just numbers.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
Shopify all the way! I love the customization that Shopify offers and the control it gives you, rather than Amazon. I sell digital downloadable guides for dog training, and Shopify is the best platform for me. It allows me to build a branded experience, manage customer relationships directly, and easily update my offerings with lifetime updates for buyers. The only con is that you’re responsible for driving traffic to your site, but the benefits of full control and customization far outweigh that.
