We were lucky to catch up with Taylor Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Although I wish I had entered commercial modeling/acting earlier, everything I’ve done so far from blogging, videography, and photography has gained me some type of monetary value and platform. I remember A New York based modeling and talent agency wanting to sign me my freshman year of college.
Back then, I was interested, but I wasn’t able to grasp what it was all that was about. My flexibility also did not allow me to deal with unforeseen travels and dropping out of school so I chose going the University route. It was worth taking that risk back then, but I didn’t have anyone around who understood or supported it. I later realized everything I did connected to that being my calling, and I am excited for the future!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was proud to have a video editing project that was shot, directed, and edited by me making it to a Georgia film festival as “Best Video” recognition. Also, I’m proud to have worked on some great campaigns with hotels, the hospitality industry, and producing content for Coca-Cola, Nike, Pandora, L’oreal, and others.
In recognition of all the opportunities and lessons I’ve learned, I created a guide called “Honey Leverage” a while back. It’s just a quick look at how I’ve achieved this on my own. It is meant to give some value to those who have been interested in this part of my journey.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My pivoting point was when I tried my hardest to get my first in-person job during my college years, and I couldn’t even make it to see my first paycheck. This has taught me that in chaos if there is no choice you just really gotta stay down or get in tuned with your hustling skills lol. In my pivotal moment, I aligned myself with what made sense to me. Since then, I have committed myself to doing things I enjoy and to setting myself up for success.
Overall, I am grateful for my skills, adaptability, and visibility from professionals, brands, and others who recognize my vision and potential. It’s all played a part for me!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Having the ability to inspire, motivate, or even bring to life someone else’s vision by being a muse for them. It’s always an evolving process with learning and growing and you can make an impact along the way. Overall it’s rewarding for me because this is something that I enjoy doing.
