Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Amundson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Taylor, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
Facebook and Facebook marketplace has been instrumental in getting clients for both of my businesses. For my mural/art business I joined FB groups of Airbnb owners and advertised there. And for my cheesecake business I almost exclusively get business from my FB page or by listing my desserts on marketplace.

Taylor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have two businesses – one in which I do commissioned artworks and murals for people and businesses (TSLambert Art). And the second, Cheesecakes by Taylor, where I sell homemade full size and miniature cheesecakes for special occasions and (hopefully) events. I got into painting murals back in 2021, and even made it my full time job for a time. I’ve always been known to my peers as “that art chuck” or “the girl who draws” so it was a natural leap for me to take. As for my cheesecake business, it was more of a curiosity. As a kid I watched baking shows constantly and I always wondered what it would be like to bake professionally (since I would bake recreationally on a regular basis). I started selling my desserts in 2025, and have loved developing my own recipes and perfecting them.
Although my businesses are incredibly different, they both offer unique, creative, and high quality goods to my customers that leave a lasting impact on either their homes or their get togethers.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My first summer doing murals, I had spent days planning and coordinating with an interior designer on some small murals in some short-term rentals. She signed off on every design, but within hours of finishing, she went over and painted over the murals herself. She claimed that because I got them done in a short timeframe that I lacked artistic integrity. This experience made me consider quitting doing murals, but I learned so much patience through this experience. Unfortunately, some folks won’t be happy with what you do, but that’s OK.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
My other business is a micro bakery out of my home kitchen (under the homemade food act from 2018). I bake and sell, miniature cheesecakes, full-size cheesecakes, and sugar cookies. Every single item I sell is personally made by me by hand in my home kitchen. This personal touch allows me to produce quality baked goods with quality ingredients, and also allows me to personalize them for each customer.
