We recently connected with Taylon Taylor and have shared our conversation below.
Taylon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
In the bustling world of digital marketing, success stories often emerge from unexpected beginnings. For Taylon Taylor, a seasoned hairstylist turned digital entrepreneur, the journey began with a simple transaction through her Acuity booking site. “I fell in love with digital marketing when I received my first deposit from my booking site,” she recalls, reflecting on the pivotal moment when she realized the potential to generate income without the constraints of traditional service-based businesses.
Operating her private salon suite for five years provided stability, but the demands of childcare eventually prompted Taylon to pivot towards a home-based business model. “I made the hard decision to close up shop so I could work from home,” she explains, highlighting the challenges faced by many entrepreneurial mothers striving to balance career ambitions with parenting responsibilities.
The turning point came when Taylon discovered the power of selling digital products. “After selling over 50 PDFs detailing my styling techniques, I realized I could monetize my expertise without physical inventory or time-bound appointments,” she recounts. This newfound avenue not only complemented her styling services but also allowed her to generate passive income while caring for her daughter.
Despite initial success, Taylon found herself at a crossroads until she stumbled upon DBA (Digital Boss Academy), a program that provided the structure and guidance she needed. “I was hooked but didn’t know where to start until I found DBA after one of the co creators Jzakaala Hamilton created a Facebook post about DBA,” she admits, reflecting on the moment her digital marketing efforts gained clarity and direction.
The breakthrough came when Taylon made her first sale through DBA, an experience that validated her journey and opened doors to a broader community of aspiring digital entrepreneurs. “I couldn’t believe it when I received an inbox from a young lady interested in purchasing DBA,” she recalls excitedly, reminiscing about the $111 sale that marked a significant milestone in her entrepreneurial career.
Collaborating with fellow digital marketers like Domonique Williams further fueled Taylon’s passion. “After my first sale, Domonique Williams also saw immediate success, making over $500 in just minutes,” she shares proudly, highlighting the empowering ripple effect within her network.
Today, Taylon is not only thriving as a digital entrepreneur but also dedicated to empowering other mothers to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. “My goal is to show other mothers that they can have both a fulfilling career and raise a family,” she asserts, underscoring her commitment to paving the way for others in similar circumstances.
As Taylon continues to make waves in the digital marketing industry, her journey serves as an inspiring testament to the transformative power of embracing new opportunities and leveraging digital platforms to achieve personal and professional goals.

Taylon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Absolutely! My name is Taylon Taylor, born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I’m a proud mother, entrepreneur, licensed cosmetologist, and digital marketer. My passion lies in helping people, especially women, join the digital products industry to boost their income while balancing work, family, and personal growth.
I started doing hair at just 14 and became a professional cosmetologist by 24 after attending P & A Scholars back in 2013-2014. After having my daughter, I returned to the beauty industry and ran a private salon suite in Southfield, MI, for five years. However, when childcare challenges arose, I pivoted and began selling a beauty vendor list to supplement my income while searching for suitable childcare.
At the core of everything I do are my values: Beauty, Integrity, Growth, Collaboration, and Balance. I’m deeply passionate about helping women feel beautiful inside and out through beauty services, mentorship, and support. Before I left beauty school, I made a commitment to always maintain integrity in everything I pursue as a professional cosmetologist and entrepreneur. It’s so important to me to network and connect with others who are on a journey of self and business growth.
While I’m no longer a full-time stylist, I still style hair occasionally for my loyal guests. But now, my focus is on building my digital marketing business, Taylon Digital Talk. I’ve been all-in on digital marketing since May, and I actually invested in this new venture as a birthday gift to myself for my 34th birthday on May 22! Digital marketing has opened up so many doors for me, allowing me to help other digital marketers start their own digital product-based businesses using just their phone and WiFi.
Starting a digital product-based online business is truly a game-changer. It has so many advantages, like low overhead costs since you don’t need inventory, storage, or shipping. This reduces both initial investments and ongoing expenses. And the scalability is incredible—once your product is created, you can sell it to an unlimited number of customers without ever worrying about stock levels.
Plus, there’s the potential for passive income! Once everything’s set up, your digital products can continue to generate revenue with minimal effort, giving you the freedom to explore other passions or simply enjoy more time with your family.
The global reach of online business is another major perk. The internet allows you to connect with customers worldwide, which greatly expands your market potential. And let’s not forget about the creative freedom—it’s one of my favorite aspects! You can create products that align with your passions and expertise, whether it’s e-books, online courses, or software.
Automation is another powerful advantage. Many processes, like sales and customer service, can be automated, allowing you to focus on what you love—whether that’s product development or marketing. Plus, digital products are easy to update and improve based on customer feedback, ensuring they remain valuable and relevant over time.
And one last thing I love—digital products are so much more eco-friendly! There’s no need for physical materials, packaging, or transportation, which helps reduce your carbon footprint.
Overall, starting a digital product-based business is an amazing way to combine creativity with entrepreneurship. It’s a sustainable and flexible income stream that I’m so passionate about sharing with others.
I couldn’t have achieved all this without the support and inspiration from Digital Boss Academy. DBA isn’t just a course; it’s a digital COMMUNITY that teaches you how to develop multiple streams of income, grow your business, and build confidence and leadership skills as you craft your story and brand.
