We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tayler Sallee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tayler below.
Tayler, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Currently, I am collaborating with Friends of Strays Animal Shelter to help get rescued dogs adopted through sustainable fashion shows and events. Earlier this year I started designing up-cycled pet fashions and putting animals on the runway with fashion models and the local St. Pete, FL community has been nothing but supportive. This cause is personally meaningful to me because I have a 9 y.0. adopted Pomeranian as well that moved from the Midwest to the sunshine state with me 4 years ago. Her name is Lolly, and she has been with me through every step of my sustainable fashion journey she also loves to dress up in my custom pet clothing and has gained quite the puparazzi following on social media.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I grew up with a strong curiosity about the world of sustainable design and began crafting up-cycled clothing and jewelry samples at a young age. While obtaining my BA in Fashion Marketing I soon began to learn more about the unstylish side of fast fashion. I wanted to be a part of the fashion world but didn’t want to support unethical companies.
This is how my brand, Tailor Sallee, was created. Every piece of Tailor Sallee clothing is handmade by me and has the lowest impact possible on the planet because my designs are made from recycled materials and require no new resources.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to provide the market with the most fashionable zero waste clothing pieces for people & their pets. Tailor Sallee uses recycled, secondhand, and deadstock materials in our up cycled and custom designs seeking to minimize waste throughout the supply chain. Help us save the planet one outfit at a time.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is working with other creative people and empowering those with creative potential. Seeing the amazing outcomes produced when individuals successfully collaborate together as a team is so humbly gratifying to me. I met so many others who have the same values as me but use different mediums to express them.
