We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tayler Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tayler, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
One of the biggest risks I took was quitting my 9-5 job. It was definitely a premature decision to make. I thought I had everything figured out to work full time as a makeup artist and esthetician, but I had one small problem: no clients LOL. So ultimately I don’t want to work a “regular” job and I do want my business to sustain my life, but I’ve learned to move on God’s time and not my own. It’s been a struggle not having a steady and guaranteed paycheck, but I’ve remained faithful through this process. I have recently started working again, but I made sure to be intentional about what kind of job I am doing and making sure it’s aligning with my goals.

Tayler, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I always say that makeup artistry fell into my lap. I never had ANY plans on being an mua. Like, none! In college I started to dabble in makeup on myself here and there doing bold eye looks like cheetah print eyeshadow or playing around with colors and to be honest, it stuck. It became a true hobby and my friends began asking me to do their makeup. Post college I did become a beauty influencer and tried out alllll the beauty trends at that time and I got really good at it.
A year ago I graduated from the Aveda Institute and I truly began my business again.
I love making people feel good about themselves through the art of makeup. I specialize in natural glams and more so enhancing people’s beauty rather than masking it with too much product.
I want potential clients to know that you’ll receive a relaxing and cozy experience. I always strive to meet the needs of my clients and their requests at the time of their service.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot is really the current season I’m in. Recently, business has been really slow and I can’t just count on my bookings anymore. I’m currently learning how to pivot during this slow season to create passive income in my business. It’s a learning process, but I am working on some things to help me stay current with trends as well as staying on my feet.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Whew social media is tough. With the change in algorithms which seems like everyday it’s hard to keep up. The advice I’d give really is to be consistent and post everyday! I’m still figuring this social media stuff out but I am noticing that putting more time and effort into daily posts and captions that are meaningful, I am getting more engagement.
