Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tayler and Cody Kirby. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tayler and Cody, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We conceived the idea for Green Light Drive Thru through discussions about the importance of appreciating the little “Green Lights” in our lives. We all often complain about red stop lights and we tend to overlook the gratitude we should have for the green lights. Our love and attention for food lead us to follow our dream of opening a non-conventional food trailer. We choose to establish a permanent location with consistent operating hours. We have purposefully designed our business as a drive-thru establishment for ease and convenience of our customers. While our focus is on delivering prompt service, we do not classify ourselves as a fast food establishment. Our menu features dishes that are freshly prepared daily, with most items crafted to order. Notably, our fries are cut by hand each day and seasoned with our own house-made blend of spices.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Our love of food kept pushing us in the direction of serving the community. It brings me so much joy and fulfillment to be able to make a positive impact and grow with our small town. I’m incredibly proud to be a small business owner who has the honor of working and collaborating with other amazing local small businesses. One of these fantastic partners is Bricklayer Bakery, who supplies us with their delicious fresh sourdough bread. We work with another small bakery, Friendship Farms, for our specialty item the donut horseshoe. One of our favorite collaborations was with TheWholeHeartCreativeCo for designing graphics to illustrate what our take on the horseshoe.

Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
Any small business knows that financially the first year is the hardest. You start from scratch, making mistakes but also learning and growing along the way. We put our entire life savings into this venture, and we have not taken any paychecks yet but we wouldn’t have it any other way! We’re seriously grateful for where we are right now and can’t help but feel excited about the future growth of our small business. Cheers to all the hardworking entrepreneurs out there!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My best advice is to be yourself! People enjoy honest genuine interaction. We built our social media by connecting with other local small businesses in our community.
