We recently connected with Taylan Kelly and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Taylan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

The most meaningful project I have worked on is the documentary “ Models On The Move, Journey To Teen Fashion Week “. The Young Agency is the first agency I signed to in a non-exclusive contract. I was asked by Ms. Young to audition for a documentary she was producing with Director / Co-Producer James Bessinas. This project was incredible! The film crew followed me for 2mos. and truly captured my pathway to Teen Fashion Week. The crew filmed me at home, with friends, and even my high school graduation. It was a very personal experience because James ( the Director/ Co-Producer) was able to capture the very essence of me and my personal genre. The subtle nuances that reflected me were unique. From my intro, to the theme music in my segments. I learned so much! The dynamics that happen on set while filming are truly valuable. The documentary culminated in a fashion show , and watching myself on screen with family and friends at the private viewing Ms. Young created in Chandler AZ. will always be an awesome memory! When I received my film credit and my IMDb page was created, wow! my family was so proud! I’m 19 years old now, I was 17 years old when I started, there’s so much more ahead.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Modeling is an art, the Designers photographers, and directors are all artists. As a model/ actor we are the canvas. The visual canvas. Every photo shoot, fashion show, film, and production has an artistic inspiration behind it. Versatility and adaptability make me marketable. A strong work ethic and passion for my craft allows me to take on each and every project with an individual mindset and give that particular project a different version of me. One photographers I shoot with often, R2Digital Images has such a creative mind! When he, my Manager and myself brainstorm photo shoots it’s always rewarding to see the vision come to life! I am my brand, and my brand is me, so it’s important that clients and potential clients see that in my work. This segues into me as a Stylist as well, because it can be an inspiration for clients from an esthetic standpoint.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I want to encourage everyone to be their true authentic self, always. To take their personal gifts and own it. Being a model at 5’9 drives my creativity. I’m not the industry standard height for runway. That doesn’t stop me, it motivates me. Size doesn’t matter, height doesn’t matter, the work does. If it resonates with the audience, and delivers the expected final results, that’s the most important part. Inclusivity is paramount. Not everyone is 6ft , people want to see a reflection of themselves on the runway. If I can inspire even one person to pursue their dreams, I’m honored. Since beginning my path as a model, one goal at the top of my list was to audition for Phoenix Fashion Week’s Top 40 model search, and compete for model of the year. This is a 3-month model competition structured with 5 challenges during that timeframe. It’s an intense process that elevates models and helps take their career to the next level. It will culminate in a fantastic show this October in partner with Phoenix Fashion Week, Corella&Co., and Fashion Rewired podcast with Brian Hill. What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Reputation matters, Positivity wins! It’s all about work ethic. Committing to a project and giving 100%. Arriving on time, or early . The ability to take direction and feedback, being a team player, these are the cornerstones to building a strong presence within your market. Professionalism is critical. Always be willing to grow and learn. Don’t forget to have fun along the way!
