Tayla, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
Humans naturally are attracted to things that engage them and interest them. We have millions of pages of research of best practices for educating youth and adults. Yet, according to how we educate in the public system, we do not implement the practices that have been proven successful. There is entirely too much bureaucracy in education and innovation is lacked and I believe this is one of the reasons why more parents are seeking to homeschool and or alternatively teach their young people. The public school system creates workers, and there is a grave need for a system that cultivates creativity, ingenuity and open minded forward thinking.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
At the age of 12 I already knew that entrepreneurship was for me. I began a paper route at 12 where I learned customer service and hard work. By the time I was 20 I had experienced Managerial success in multilevel marketing. I had a pink mustache on my car before anyone even knew what Lyft was, I had guest sleeping on my couch on my futon in my living room prior to Airbnb was popular. Seven years ago I saw a shift in my neighborhood call gentrification, I was ignorant to the term and wanted to understand the root cause so I could advocate against it. As a radio personality I interviewed Mayor Marty Walsh of Boston, economic development & housing experts, and real estate professional and NO ONE submitted an answer that sufficed my curiosity. This lead to me obtaining my real estate license. I have been educating people on credit, budgeting, and generational wealth in order to build their resilience to homeownership. “Finally, Home. The step-by-step guide for people preparing for first time. homeownership” is my first book, dedicated to those that are looking to increase their financial literacy. The book is currently available in Spanish and English in the form of a paper, back book, audiobook, and interactive course. What excites me is my ability to affect change outside MA, & GA, the states I am licensed in by assisting families in growing equity and obtaining capital in the form of leverage.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Dr. Joe Dispenza and Abraham Hicks are my go to for reading or audiobook content. Everybody wants to change their circumstances, whether it’s their relationship with their families, friends, or significant others, relationships that they have with money, relationships they have with themselves yet no one is willing to do the work of reprogramming their mind. I believe this is the first step, and how I begin my day every day. When you take a look at how many of us were raised under an indoctrinated system of scarcity then wonder why we lack. Lack self control, lack order and process, lack the skills, tools, and language to manage our emotions and
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
One of the things I hear from former clients or referrals from former clients is how honest Tayla is. Even when it hurts I will be honest with my clients so they can make the best decisions based on all the information. Many times we as people can’t make the proper choices because we are making uninformed decisions. The truth that your house isn’t going to sell that high, you don’t have enough savings, you are over spending and your DTI is too high coupled with solution based suggestions will put people on the right path to make better choices for their fiscal future.
