We recently connected with Tayanna Love and have shared our conversation below.
Tayanna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
When I was younger I always wanted to be an ENTERTAINER. I’ve taken singing classes, acting classes, performed in numerous talent shows, plays and musicals during those days. So it only seemed right to make it my chosen career. I worked in regular 9 to 5’s but they left me feeling unappreciated and not complete. When I looked over my finances and realized that I made much more money as an entertainer, I then made it my full time job. Now it’s my business, Tayanna Love LLC.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been in the art form for 24 years. From elementary school I always knew I wanted to be on the stage as my chosen career. Just didn’t know that it would be drag lol. But in all, the art of female impersonation has given me a beautiful life that I found be who I want to be, and get paid doing so. Over my 24 year spand I have won numerous Pageants, traveled different countries, and meet tons of people that some now I consider family. My greatest accomplishment thus far was winning Miss Florida F I at Large 2022. That contest brought my brand to a larger level that I could imagine. The amount of love and respect I received from the community was so emotionally overwhelming. It was such a great feeling. One thing that I would want people to know about me, that I’m sure they already know, I’m a loving person. I love really hard. If I say I love you, know it’s coming from a special place in my heart.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I feel if society wants to support local artist, the best thing to do is to go out to your local bars, tip them, share some experience, and try to get to know them. Make sure when it’s time to, GO VOTE. The people you elect in office effects us all.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Well like I said I’ve been in the business for 24 years. With that comes good and bad. Being an entertainer introduced me into the world of sex work. Although those days got me through some hard times, I prayed to God to get me out. 5 years later I’m no longer in that business and have made a full career in the art form of female impersonation.
