We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tavis Cline a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tavis, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

My journey in photography is driven by an enjoyment in capturing the many forms and beauty that define our world. Through my lens, I seek to explore and showcase the diversity of life, from the subtle intricacies of nature to the vibrant expressions of human culture. Each photograph is an opportunity to tell a story, evoke emotion, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the world around us. My mission is to create images that not only document but also celebrate the richness of our planet, inviting others to see the beauty that often goes unnoticed.

Tavis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

After earning a degree in journalism and minoring in photojournalism, I entered the field with a strong belief in capturing the truth through photography with minor manipulation/editing. My initial experiences, to help pay the bills, included wedding photography, I quickly realized that it wasn’t where my passion lay. I then began a career in travel and found my passion in travel photography. Here I could explore the world and document its diverse cultures and landscapes. This path allowed me to focus on candid photography, capturing moments and scenes that often go unnoticed, highlighting the beauty of the world and its people in their natural state, without heavy manipulation or editing.

Have you ever had to pivot?

A definite period of time, and continuing presently that I had a pivot in work, was when the industry transitioned from traditional film and darkroom to digital technology.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

In my photography, I strive to reveal the often – overlooked beauty in our everyday life and surroundings. My goal is to inspire people to slow down and appreciate the world around them. There is wonder in the mundane and seeing the extraordinary in the day to day. I hope to awaken a deeper connection with our environment and hopes to help preserve it.
