We recently connected with Tavious Peters and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tavious thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I come from a family of educators, military and just school oriented people. I’ve always had a love for the arts but didn’t go after it as a child because I felt I had to do what family did and that was to go to school. Once I got to a point and on my own I decided I’m going after my dream of acting and modeling, the entire entertainment career. It’s been difficult but it has paid off. Sacrifices are definitely inevitable but hard work and dedication makes it worth the hard times. I’ve been on some tv shows/movies, campaigns for big brands and continuously striving for more every day. Keep the faith and don’t let anyone stop you from going after your dreams

Tavious, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started doing extra work. Once I was on set I started networking with the PA’s etc. Started taking acting classes and having photoshoots to just get better at my craft. Finally signing with a modeling agency and going from there. Once that happened I didn’t stop networking and working for myself. I kept doing all that and working to get more. I then signed with a talent agent and that led to auditions and just getting in front of casting director and producers. Working with big names like SPANX, John Deere, BET, Fanatics, etc led to me eventually getting signed in New York to a modeling agency. It takes discipline and not working a regular 9-5 and always being available when called on. I’m more a commercial model and that boy next door type with acting but don’t want to be put in a box. I communicate well so that’s been a big help for me to get further.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding is seeing my work come to life ! On a billboard, tv screen on a product wherever !

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
What keeps me going and give me hope is watching interviews of people much further along and who’s been in the business. Also books, Jenna Fischer The Actors Life changed my entire perception of the business. I watch interviews etc daily to keep the motivation.
