We were lucky to catch up with Tausha Hammett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tausha, thanks for joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Making sure our product stays consistent including taste, price and portion size. We treat all our customers like family.
Tausha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tausha Hammett, I am owner and Trustee of LC’s Bar B Q. LC Richardson founder of LC’s Bar B Q was my grandfather. I starting learning the business and helping since I was 12 years old. My grandfather was a pillar and BBQ legend in the Black community and my goal is to keep his legacy and brand strong.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have to pivot in February 2021 when my grandfather LC passed away at the age of 86. I have always helped with the restaurant from behind the scenes, when my grandfather passed away I was responsible for the face of the restaurant and the operations. That was a big adjustment. Now I have a good crew and a routine in place so that I can give the customers and employees the support they need.
Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
Yes, we sale our sauces and seasoning in stores. We are currently in about 75 stores in Kansas and Missouri.
