We recently connected with Tatum Mcamis and have shared our conversation below.
Tatum, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
When I was 7 I signed my talent contract with Talent Trek Agency in Knoxville, TN, less than a few months later I auditioned for a role in a commercial for a university in Tennessee and was selected! It was so cool to have a wardrobe on set, get hair and makeup, and then see myself on TV! People were constantly texting my mom saying they saw me on tv, it was the best feeling! The check in the mail was just an added bonus!
Tatum, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started modeling and acting when I was about 7. I had been doing competitive dance and my mom said that I loved the spotlight so she thought I should give some other things a try. I signed my contract and started working pretty much immediately in acting. I’ve always loved clothes and after I did my first fashion week in Asheville, NC I was hooked! I think my special power is my determination! As a teenager there are so many things that could pull my focus but I am determined to work hard in modeling, grow my portfolio and network, and get experience. My most proud moment so far has been New York Fashion Week! My goal is to do all the major shows at least once.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to make modeling and acting a lucrative career one day. I plan to go to college and get a degree in the medical field but I definitely want to keep modeling and acting because I love it!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is the connections that I have made! I have met some really creative photographers and models and designers who are very encouraging.
