We were lucky to catch up with Tatiana Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tatiana , appreciate you joining us today. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today
If I were to start over, I would do two things. For one, I would prepare my mind to be set and ready for whatever comes with my business. I would go out and find me the right mindset coach so I that I can be more successful. I was always told that a great way to be successful is to have the perfect mindset. The power that solely believing has is immense and when your mindset is right, there truly is nothing you can’t do. The second thing is I would try to remain focus more on my business. I think walking in your own lane will keep you on track with your journey to success. Even if things start to work differently, I don’t think that you would notice much. After a year in my business, I kind of stop being focus and looking at what others were doing. I need to let people know that by doing this I set myself up for failure at the beginning. This slow me down as depression started to kick in. This is also where the ball dropped, and I lost some customers. This started relating so much back to having the wrong mindset, because I started to feel like I didn’t reach the level of success I should have. When it come to producing new things in my business, I would always chicken out and lose faith. I would always tell myself to keep moving forward, no matter how scary or uncomfortable it may be and to remain consistent because that is what brings results. So with God being in my power, I was able to overcome all of the bad experience and finally get my mindset right to push past and become more successful in my business.

My name is Tatiana Smith (beautyinparadisemynx on IG). I’m originally from Moultrie, Ga but I recently moved to Atlanta, Ga in 2019. I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I also have my teaching degree in Elementary Education. I got in my business right off graduating from cosmetology school. I started off doing family members hair and then a year or two later that’s when I looked into starting my own hair business.
Beauty In Paradise Mynx LLC officially launched in November 2019. We launched with our beautiful customers in mind needing quality premade wigs, hair bundles and lashes. We then moved over to providing top tier custom made units to our beautiful customers. We specialize in designing each and every unit differently. Every unit is very unique and no unit will look the same. Our slogan is “Every Girl Deserves A Style”. We as a team try to stand on that because no matter where your from every girl will come with their own style. We make sure that we are creating great content to drive in a bigger audience. We make sure that our customers are comfortable with what we are offering. We show our customers that we are professional, honesty and loyal to their needs. No customer is left behind or treated differently.
Beauty In Paradise Mynx has started offering one on one wig construction courses. We take pride in our work and aim to make sure that our customers are satisfied. We also make sure that each customer know that a wig is an investment. Investing in a unit requires maintenance and we make sure our customers know how to fully take care of their unit so it can last longer. We do offer wig maintenance services such as shampooing, deep conditioning and etc. We are based in Atlanta, however, we do ship worldwide. I want the world to know that Beauty In Paradise Mynx is here to stay and we will continue to provide affordable flawless wigs for as long as God allows us to do so. With that being said, I am proud of how much I’ve grown physically and mentally since I started my hair business. One of the biggest downfalls I had was being a procrastinator, eventually, I had to learn that it wasn’t going to help my business get where it needed to be, showing up on time, staying consistent with my craft, and making the extra sacrifice is what would help my business to get the growth and recognition it deserves.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
To be honest, I started growing my clientele on Facebook. Back then Facebook wasn’t as bad as it is today. Now I use it as a resource vs strategy.
My number one strategy for growing and retaining clientele is having a strong positive customer experience. I make sure that my customers can trust me. I understand the importance of creating a smooth addictive customer journey. That means from the time a customer finds us online to the time they purchase a product they are engaged and catered to.
We love to automate processes, use simple effective platforms customers can easily navigate, offer beautiful aesthetics for product packaging to gift customers with the best. Our store always look amazing and send us the best selfies ever.
Customers are greeted with a warm and thoughtful emails and helpful positive attitudes. We aim to exceed expectation. On top of that we offer the most rewarding customer loyalty programs. This highlights sincere customer appreciation.

We do have an ecommerce site with Shopify and have had a great big varieties with online sales through our shop. When you go to www.beautyinparadisemynx.com to shop then your orders are fulfilled by the local owner or assistant. Most of our products are always on hand unless things start to sell out fast. We have some customers that love to order online and pick up their items the next day. We wanted to have an online shop so that we can cater our services/products to everybody across the world. By having an online store, we have gained so many overseas and out of state customers and we are very thankful for that.
We know that as a customer, it is very important to have a website because people love to shop online. One great thing about having a website that it’s great for keeping up with your inventory and revenue. No more adding up receipts and writing items down if you have a website. We as a team know about every product and why we carry every style in the store. Having an online store, has granted us for the best top tier customer service ever.
