Hi Tatiana , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I knew my company name had to be meaningful. I wanted something that both my clients and I would find powerful. After going through several possibilities, I chose Journey Skin Co. It is meant to be a constant reminder that everyone’s journey is unique and it’s okay. My journey as a business owner will look different than any other business. It’s a reminder that it’s okay to be different. To do what works for me and my clients and not just follow the crowd or the latest fad. It also gives me permission to change courses if necessary. To make the business fit into my life. My journey. There are many paths on any given journey which, to me, translates into endless possibilities.
It is a reminder that life is a journey and you cross paths with people from all walks of life. People with similar and different experiences and we each decide who we want to invite to be a part of our journey. It’s a reminder that we are in control and we are free to make decisions regarding where we want to go and how we want to get there. So when a client comes to Journey Skin Co. I know they made a conscious decision to allow me to help them with their skincare and wellness needs and I appreciate that opportunity.
In regards to my clients, Journey Skin Co. reminds them that their experiences are unique and should not be compared to anyone else’s. It reminds them that skin care is not a one time miracle treatment or product. It takes time, planning, and commitment. There may be good days and bad but if they continue on their skin journey change will come.
Tatiana , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I know you’re eager to learn about me but gratitude is important to me so I must first start with that. I’d like to take a moment to thank CanvasRebel for offering me an opportunity to share my story and to thank each of you for taking the time to read this article to get to know me and Journey Skin Co.
My name is Tatiana Pace. I am the owner of Journey Skin Co. and a mother of three. When I am not giving my all to my family, I am giving my very best to my clients. I love helping others. Seeing people happy and confident in their own bodies brings me so much joy. I’ve been a licensed aesthetician for 18 years and a licensed massage therapist for 9.
I was first introduced to skin care as a teenager. I was never big on anything beauty until a friend asked me to be her “guinea pig” to practice facial services for a spa menu project at work. It took just one session and I was hooked. I had no idea how much aesthetics would impact my life in the future.
Upon graduating high school, I went to college because I thought that was what I was supposed to do. In my mind, there was no room for beauty school. After only three semesters, I realized college was not for me. The level of interest I needed was just not there so I decided to follow my heart and pursue my interest in skin care.
Once I obtained my Aesthetic license, I worked for a wellness franchise where I polished my skills and grew my knowledge. I learned so much about aesthetics, client relations, and business building. I also fell in love with helping others. I loved helping my clients so much that I went back to school to add Massage Therapy to my arsenal so I could help even more. While at this franchise, I moved into promotion pretty quickly and ultimately became a regional trainer teaching others about skincare and massage therapy. My interest in sharing knowledge, to uplift others, blossomed.
Although I adored the people I worked with and appreciated the company I worked for, I knew I wanted to be a business owner. I wanted to have the ability to create services and experiences with no limitations, so I decided to go out on my own.
At Journey Skin Co., I provide life changing services for men, women, pre-teens, and teens. The services include facials, body contouring, and massage therapy services.
You’re probably asking yourself “What’s so life changing about that?” Well, when you provide something that builds one’s confidence the results are truly life changing. Confidence lifts spirits, puts smiles on faces, and increases self-esteem, self-love, kindness, and joy. It contributes to stronger relationships in one’s personal life, professional life, and throughout the community and the world. I believe in the services I provide and have seen lives change.
When it comes to problem solving my main focus is to build confidence. In regard to skin care, I help control acne, get rid of dark spots, and soften fine lines and wrinkles. If the concerns are with one’s body, I help sculpt and plump the derrière, contour love handles and minimize cellulite. I even help decrease pain and increase range of motion through massage therapy. Sometimes the problem is stress and clients need ME time. There are solutions for that as well.
What sets me apart from others is I’ve devoted myself to offering skincare and body solutions that break down the barrier between the person of today and the more confident person of tomorrow by merging in-office and at-home skin care and body wellness solutions, education, and inspiration. I LISTEN to my clients concerns, EDUCATE them on why they may be experiencing difficulties, and BUILD a guided plan to work toward the improvements they desire.
I’m most proud of believing in myself and fighting for the opportunity to live my passion every day. Not only am I doing what I love and helping others, I’m setting an example for my children. Showing them that they should believe in themselves, no matter the obstacle(s), and if it does not work out initially, regroup and try again. Just don’t give up!
I would like potential clients to know that they are in good hands at Journey Skin Co., they are appreciated, and their concerns/goals are the priority. The journey is a partnership that flourishes through communication. I will always be open and honest with every client and encourage them to do the same.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There are a few stories I could share however the most impactful one occurred during the pandemic. Journey Skin Co. is not my first business. I had another massage and skin care business which I, unfortunately, had to close in 2020. It was tough spiritually. I put a lot into it and had so much joy and love for it and it was heartbreaking when I had to close the doors. I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what I was going to do and if I had it in me to start that journey again.
Summer of 2021, I decided I had to trust myself and follow my heart and that’s when the idea of Journey Skin Co. was conceived. It took another 9 months of planning and preparation. In March of 2022, Journey Skin Co. was officially registered as a business and our doors opened that May.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was “How to sell products and services.” Making sure every client leaves with home care products and returns for regular sessions is an integral part of the client/technician relationship. It’s not just about extra revenue for me. It’s about ensuring the best possible results.
When I first entered the esthetic world, I was very intimidated by sales. I was provided a lot of sales training at the first spa I worked for and quickly found that sales were a big challenge for me. Once I came to terms with that, I focused on what was important to me and that was listening to my clients to understand their struggles and expectations and educating them on what services and products I could offer, and why they were solutions to their problems.
Once I approached “selling” as an opportunity to educate I became very comfortable with recommending treatment plans and home care products to provide my clients with the full experience they deserved.
