We were lucky to catch up with Tatiana Fedotova recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tatiana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I was still a student at the Magic Castle when, one evening, a few magicians approached me and said, “Hey, these people are Russian—could you show them something?” I was born and raised in Russia, so the language came naturally to me, and Russian audiences were a rare sight at the Castle.
I showed them a few simple tricks, and when they handed me a $30 tip, it felt like a quiet but powerful affirmation—that my creativity could carry real value. I remember the happiness lingering long after the moment passed.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello everyone! My name is Tatiana Fedotova. I am a professional magician with a specialty in mentalism. Magic is a unique and exciting field because, as part of the profession, I am given the opportunity to read minds, make predictions, and create an environment that allows audience members to immerse themselves in fun and enjoyable activities.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to create moments of happiness for people. I never know what my audience is going through when they come to a show—maybe they’re in a bad mood or dealing with something difficult in their lives. My goal is to offer a brief escape from reality and leave them with a moment of genuine joy.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
When I was in New York, I attended the Monday Night Magic show. Afterward, the audience and crew stayed to hang out, and they invited me to join them. One person introduced himself as Ken Weber and suggested I read his book, Maximum Entertainment 2.0. I read it when I got back to Los Angeles, and it changed everything. I recommend it to any magician—this book is a true game changer.
