We recently connected with Tatiana Arias and have shared our conversation below.
Tatiana , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
In business and in life, I believe taking risks is necessary. Stuff happens, live your life. If it doesn’t work out then it’s not meant for you. Something bigger and better is coming. I have learned to always trust your gut. The only thing we know in life that is for certain is, “Things are about to change.” To make a long story short, the biggest risk I have taken in my life was moving to Miami, Florida to what I thought would be … the beginning of my fashion career … It was NOT. I ended up consulting for a medical device company, which led me to acquire equity in the company. I even developed two more businesses of my own. This experience wasn’t necessarily what I wanted to do, but it was risks like these that ended up being the most impactful on my life. Running and operating a business in the medical industry wasn’t the career I would have chosen for myself, but it was aligning me with the woman I have always wanted to be – A business woman. In the end, I learned far more than I could have imagined and it taught me how to run a business- for myself and how to help others do the same,
Tatiana , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Tatiana Arias. A fashion stylist, creative consultant and digital content creator. As a business owner, I remember the struggle of having to learn it all by myself. I wanted help, but had no idea where to look. I remember investing $4,000 of my budgeting hiring a ‘business consultant’ to offer me nothing more than a twenty page business plan and a three year financial projection – it was a waste of time and money. So I started my business with hopes of helping other entrepreneurs start their business and offering my advice through personal experience. As a creative consultant, I work with brands and people to help tell their stories in a visual way. I go beyond the basics of concept, design ,production and actually teach my clients how to build a powerful brand. As a fashion stylist, personal styling was something I have always done, but finally decided to take commercial styling more seriously and set some goals for myself. I wanted to be published in magazines, work with larger companies with bigger advertising budgets and to take it a step further offering more services and providing creative direction. Once I moved back from Miami to Texas I worked with an agency. Working for an agency gave me the expertise I needed in bran development and in production. Often times clients reached out to me for photoshoots or to collaborate on campaigns, with no direction on how to start or what the process would be. This I how creative consulting came into play – by helping others to create intentional yet impactful branding. My work spans across different industries – from fashion brands to corporations. I help develop distinctive and engaging content for social media, work with artists on special events and PR campaigns. As well as, with boutiques and small business owners on digital strategy.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand I believe is my style and my aesthetic sensibility. My ability to see things from a different perspective. I feel like I am very perceptive and the success of any project come from when my clients and I can have that same shared vision. Overall, I would say that my character has helped build my reputation. I am humble, empowering, always supporting others around me so they can thrive. I choose transparency and positivity. I am determined, vibrant, and a little superficial, meaning I take things as they come and I have a sense of humor. Be like water and flow . Also, Lightness – that’s what you need in your life.
How did you build your audience on social media?
It is very important to stay true to your aesthetic and style. Do not copy others. Yes, do be inspired by others. Be authentic and be humble. You may need to be more vulnerable than you would like on social media. Share your story and start from the beginning. But this … this is your narrative. Your narrative and story is what people will choose to relate to and that all create an organic following for you. They will follow you through your entire journey .
