We recently connected with Tati Petkovic, MDM and have shared our conversation below.

Tati, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?

I first started researching my birth chart and getting into astrology when I started to notice patterns in my dating life. I kept attracting Scorpios that were born in the same week, and I asked myself… why is this happening? I still didn’t fully understand astrology at the time, I just learnt the basics (like your sun, moon and rising signs). Yet after a difficult, shocking, emotional breakup with my last partner, I decided to get a birth chart reading from an Astrologer and it completely changed my life.

When I found out your birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment of your birth that can show you your family patterns, your life path, your career themes, your relationship patterns, your blind spots, your strengths and your challenges, that’s when I knew I needed to research it more. I felt so seen, heard and supported in my first one hour reading with my Astrology mentor, than I did from years of therapy (even though I highly recommend therapy!). I decided to study with her very soon afterwards.

Initially I was very scared to start my own astrology practice! I had an astrology accessory line (physical products such as notebooks, tote bags and more) for about over a year, and I was losing money in my business. I thought I’d launch my astrology practice later on in life, maybe in my fifties or sixties. I just didn’t know anything about running my own service-based astrology business. Even though I studied astrology through courses and mentors for a few years, I didn’t feel ready. One of my multiple mentors encourage me to start giving birth chart readings in one of our private calls. When I finally launched, I received 10 clients right off the bat. Those clients gave me amazing testimonials, and told me they made positive, life-changing decisions after our sessions. This gave me even more confidence to continue my practice.

Tati, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I got into astrology a few years ago, before it sky-rocketed in popularity in the west.

Most people believe astrology is a belief system—yet it’s not. It’s a tool for empathy, developing self awareness, cultivating self love, meaning-making, and understanding the patterns in your life. It does however, make you curious about how we’re all connected, and that there may be something greater than yourself.

The problem I’m solving for my clients really depends on the client. For example, common questions I get asked are—why do I keep attracting the same kind of partner? What kind of romantic relationships are good for me? What career path is right for me? How can I build stronger friendships? Why have things felt so chaotic for me this past year? And so much more.

We dig into these questions in a client’s birth chart through a live reading, and I share with them what I’m seeing. What makes me different from other Astrologers is that I also ask them questions and we have a conversation. I don’t just give them information—I dig deep to the root of any issue they may have and we explore them together. I am also a Western, Tropical Astrologer, so my method differs greatly from other Astrologers. I provide a modern, psychology-based approach to my readings, and I’m able to navigate difficult topics and situations with my clients because I am trauma-informed. Most Astrologers don’t do this extra training, however, this was important for me to make sure my clients feel as safe and comfortable as possible.

I also have incorporated astrology into my Brand Strategy practice for spiritual, wellness entrepreneurs. Business’ also has a birth chart, so I help clients launch their businesses using astrology, based on their values. I do this through helping them get clear on their goals for their business, target market, competitors, strengths and getting to know them well through a birth chart reading. We then work together through the design of their brand, colour palette, website design, brand strategy sessions and social media strategy sessions. I also help clients launch their businesses by picking a specific date and time for their businesses to go public, so that their business’ birth chart feels aligned to what they are trying to accomplish. l love working with clients to build a stable foundation for their practice, make more money, grow their community and impact more people.

Teaching is also a passion of mine, so I provide courses for people to learn more about how to use astrology in their daily life, a weekly astrology podcast on substack called Moon Sign Insight, and give 1-on-1 mentorship to other Astrologers and Creatives. I also built the Moon Sign Creative community; a space for creatives, wellness entrepreneurs, visionaries and other readers to come together for new moon and full moon events, and a digital platform to share resources and chat daily.

What I’m most proud of about my practice is the breakthroughs that my clients get from our sessions together. Some end up getting into more aligned careers, launching their own business, get more clients, leave abusive relationships, find their partners, start their creative practice or start dating again. I’m so grateful to be told I end up helping people feel more seen, empowered and clear on their next steps in life. The most rewarding thing about my work is the deep relationships I get to form with my clients, and seeing them grow with me.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

Tiktok has been a surprising source of new clients for me. I just started taking the platform more seriously this past year, and have grown my community to over 30k. People have a lot of limiting beliefs around Tiktok, and I did in the beginning too. I didn’t think I’d actually get paying clients from the platform, yet I realized I was blocking myself without fully trying. When I started to really give it a fair shot, that’s when things started to take off. Tiktok has grown my substack community (which I use as my newsletter) to over 1500 people, which was 1000 new people in just the last year.

Since my growth and having multiple videos go viral and reach millions of views, I have also started to offer social media strategy sessions to help people looking to really utilize Tiktok as a platform to find more clients.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

I honestly wished I hired a Business coach and an Astrology mentor sooner. This was something I resisted in the beginning stages of my business because I didn’t have a lot of revenue. This issue is… not investing stalled my business’ growth. when you invest money, you end up making more money. It speeds up this process. You can’t really expect others to pay you much if you’re afraid to invest in yourself.

If you’re not in the position to do this, think of other ways to learn more weekly, or earn the money to invest in your business. This could be getting a part-time job, reading books or investing in a course instead.

This is also why I started offering 1-on-1 Mentorship program and Brand Strategy sessions. I wanted to really help people let go of their limiting beliefs, learn growth strategies for their businesses, and stop holding themselves back when it comes to their dreams and goals.

In the beginning of my business, I thought I had to do everything alone. It was very lonely and extremely difficult.

Investing in coaches, mentors and paid communities helped me with this. This gave me more accountability to work smarter in my business, and allowed me to network. I’ve found a lot of clients through paid communities, so I really recommend looking for a community that feels aligned for you.
