We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tashima Freeman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tashima, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I know what it is like to have an abundance of money, and I also know what it likes to lose it all and get it back. It is more important to me to be of service to the people who want it and make a difference on this earth by helping others get rid of fear an live in abundance.
Tashima, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started my entrepreneurial journey after being Fired from my Corporate Job, and started KSK Tax and Accounting Solutions. After 2 years in business I started to feel unfulfilled and realized that my enjoyment came from doing more than just bookkeeping and taxes, but i enjoyed educating my clients on how to run a successful business.
This urged me to pursue business coaching. Where I am able to help those aspiring entrepreneurs who want to break out of corporate, but with an exit strategy in pace. I am now able to educate people on starting a business and making consistent sales, and that’s what’s most important to me.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2016 I was arrested for being associated with the wrong person, this arrest prevented me from passing a background check for over 5 years. Imagine getting multiple offers in your field and not being able to pass a background check.
This did not stop me . I kept applying and in 2018 I landed my first full time accounting role and in 2020 I was fired from my corporate job.
I knew that God had bigger plans for me and wanted me to use the same drive I had to pursue my Business.
In 9 Months i reached my 6 figure goal.
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
I always tell people who want to start a business that it is a lot of responsibility. I take pride in the fact that I have changed peoples lives, and not just clients, but my teams. I help them to feed their families and that can weigh heavy on you.
There was a time when we had a slow two months and I did not know how I was going to pay them in the months to come.
To start, I was very upfront and honest with them and gave them the option to leave if they needed too=. I also set a budget aside of what I felt was acceptable to take from my savings (I couldn’t pay myself at all during this time). Lastly, I limited the task that I did that was not a direct correlation to me making sales.
In the end, my team decided to stay. I didn’t go over that budget to spend from my savings and I increased our sales in about 27 days.
My biggest advice would be to build your team while you have guranteed money coming in because you never want to be the reason someone else cannot feed their family.
