We were lucky to catch up with Tashelle Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tashelle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I believe that every brand and individual possesses its own uniqueness, and social media serves as a powerful tool to highlight this individuality. It enables brands and individuals to establish a vibrant social media presence, cultivate a community, and nurture relationships with existing customers while building new relationships with potential future customers—if done strategically.
The quote that I live by and wanted to adapt into my company is “Thrive. Grow. Stand Out. Be Authentically You.” What it means is that no matter who you are, no matter what business you have, no matter if you’re just starting out or already established, you can still grow and thrive while remaining true to yourself. You don’t have to lose sight of your core values or change who you are just to be seen.
The right people, followers and customers will find you.
That’s key in the formula to build supportive online communities.

Tashelle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born in Marietta, GA and grew up in Lithia Springs, GA. I studied Mass Media/Mass Communications at Valdosta State University where I was introduced to media, broadcasting, and top of the line video and audio editing tools/software.
Growing up in the early era of social media—the days of Xanga and Myspace—I developed a deep passion for connecting with people around the world, which has since evolved into a significant aspect of all of our lives today. At this point, creating posts and videos in an aesthetically pleasing way was just for fun (and the compliments did boost my ego a little bit).
I started taking social media more seriously as I became a social media manager for the gymnastics gym I worked for. Having creative ideas flow, creating content, and watching the engagement and analytic insights grow, sparked a passion of me wanting to help others succeed on social media as well.
I launched my business, Socially Yours Collective at the close of 2022, driven by a desire to help businesses thrive in the constantly evolving landscape of social media while remaining true to their authentic selves.
At Socially Yours Collective, no matter who you are, what business you have, or whether you’re just starting out or already established, you can still grow and thrive on social media while remaining true to yourself. With that being said, the services I provide aide any business with any budget.

When it comes to social media, everyone has their own goals and definition of success. What I do is that I listen to their pain points, perform account audits, and craft a social media strategy that is tailored to their end goals—which could be increased brand awareness, increased engagement and followers, driving traffic to their website, etc.
I believe so many businesses follow so many “social media gurus” or accounts that lead people on with the hook “how I grew my account to xxx in 10 days”, that they are forgetting that there is no quick scheme to true organic growth. Your social media strategy is not their social media strategy and that’s what makes you unique.
I’m proud of the results and success that I’ve brought to my clients. The milestones we’ve hit—over 2 million accounts reached (and counting). The increased rates of website traffic through social media campaigns. The comments their followers leave under their posts—cheering them on, showing support, compliments, relatability, etc. The overall trust my clients have with me and my expertise to guide them to success on social media and create a powerful online presence is truly why I created Socially Yours Collective.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The entire mission of my social media business is helping others grow and thrive on social media as their authentic selves. The service comes with a price tag that many people can’t afford or commit to for months at a time starting out. Starting my business I was eager to acquire anyone and help manage their social media accounts, which led me to lowering my price often, even though I knew my worth. This is people pleasing and it leads only to disappointment, being burnt-out, and taken advantage of. And that’s no way to run a successful business. Once I stood my ground, re-evaluated myself and my business and goals, I shifted my business approach to have different services and packages that can fit the needs and different budgets—from full social media management packages (done-for-you) to profile audits and social media strategies (done-with-you).

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
There’s two things I believe in as not only a business owner, but one who owns a social media management business. One, separating your business from your personal life (especially on social media). Two, showing up consistently. I’ve preached this so many times to clients, prospective clients on discovery calls, and on social media content.
Don’t be afraid to start fresh on social media. Having family and friends on your socials is nice to have as support, but it can be doing more harm as they may not be your ideal customer. Starting with a clean slate helps and points the algorithm in the right direction to who you want to be placed in front of. Keep in mind, people follow you for a reason. If you’re intertwining personal posts on your business page, you’ll most likely experience decreases in your analytic insights.
Social media is meant to be social. Don’t just post and ghost. Talk, engage in your comments, like posts and comment on non-follower’s content, answer DMs, the list goes on and on. Being social and engaging with others is how you gain followers, build communities and positive relationships.
I started Socially Yours Collective as new accounts across all my social media platforms. It can be discouraging at first starting at zero followers and a couple likes here and there. But with a strategically-driven approach, a content calendar, consistency, and patience, organic growth can be right around the corner.
