We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tasheika Bowen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tasheika, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Being a wife and mother are two very important roles in my life. However, my top role is being a child of God. Recently, I have been working on strengthening my relationship with Him. In doing so, I know I have a responsibility to serve. There are several organizations that I support. However, one that I really love and is very dear to me is Elite Women of Excellence (EWOE). It is a faith-based, youth development organization for teen girls from around metro Atlanta in grades 7-12.
The executive director, Lisa Smith, reached out to me and gave me the opportunity to teach the young ladies a Bible study lesson. I was so excited! I looked forward to the task of teaching the teen girls about making good life choices.
I wanted to find a way to connect with them. Their assignment was to draw a picture of themselves wearing the Armor of God. I was able to use my creative skills. To prepare for the lesson, I painted a picture of myself with my armor on and brought it with me to the class.
After my Bible study lesson, it touched me that one of the students asked to keep my painting. You could see how happy she was when I gave it to her. This project was so meaningful because the girls were given important life tools and I was able to use the creative talent God gave me to bless someone else.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am an author and creative who enjoys painting, writing poetry and creating stories. My other passion is showing women and men, that they can create their space at any age. I noticed that sometimes as we begin to get older, some of us become overlooked. This helped me decide to become a lifestyle influencer. My goal is to encourage people that they matter regardless of their age. My platform is to provide inspiration, as well as information.
As a lifestyle influencer, I have collaborated with several brands, such as Womaness, Ellie Cosmetics, ThirdLove activewear and more! I love sharing feedback about products and events, and motivating my followers to live a healthy, fulfilling life. You’ll find out interesting things about fashion, beauty and travel on my social media pages.
At 49 years old, I feel like life is just beginning and not ending for me! I want others to live their best lives as well.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
In the beginning, I was hesitant about sharing details of my life on social media. Once I decided to become a lifestyle influencer, I began to enjoy content creating and sharing. I don’t have a huge following, but I try to create interesting content for those who choose to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. I also try to follow other people who have similar interests, style, or goals that I do.
My advice to those starting to build a social media presence is to:
1. Be Consistent
2. Find your niche
3. Share interesting, appealing content
4. Be authentic
5. Know your why
What helps me is that I enjoy researching the influencer industry. I try to look at what others are doing to gain knowledge, but build a brand that is true to who I am and what I love.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to live in the moment! One minute you will see me drawing or painting, the next, you’ll catch me coloring in an adult coloring book. When I’m happy or sad, I may write poems. When I’m frustrated or excited I journal. I try to do what makes me feel good or better at that moment. I am thankful for each day that God gives me and I want to use my creative talent how He leads me to. Another mission that I have is to use my creativity to encourage others in some way.
