We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Soul Tayshi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tashawn below.
Soul Tayshi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I personally believe that doing what you love for a living is one of the best things ever. As a creator i’m my own boss and that allows me the creative space and freedom that I need to be successful. A downside to this is your passion now feels like work instead of fun sometimes but if you truly enjoy what you do then you don’t mind it. I’ve had regular jobs before and I still have to pick one up from time to time which sucks because I’d prefer to be at home doing what I love.
Soul Tayshi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started making content in January 2019. I seen other creators making funny videos about Anime & as an Anime fan myself I wanted to give it a try. My very first video had received 2,000 views which doesn’t seem like much now but was the most views I had ever gotten back then. That inspired me to keep creating more and with each new video I gained new viewers/supporters. At first I was just making skits on Instagram but then I moved over to TikTok. On TikTok I made whatever I style of video that I wanted but stayed on the topic of Anime. I gained 100,000 followers very quickly! One day I decided to do an Anime rap just for fun and it gained half a million views! I started making more Anime raps and eventually my supporters wanted me to release them as full songs. Now I create both videos and music for my audience. I am very proud of the progress that I’ve made over the years and how determined I’ve been. Throughout the ups and downs I have NEVER given up. I like to encourage my supporters to always keep chasing their dreams so if you’re reading this then keep going!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience by talking about what I love while being myself. My advice for smaller creators or anyone that wants to be a creator is to form a bond with your supporters. You can chat with them in a community setting, respond to their comments, or live stream every once in awhile to just chat with them. You should also stick to who you are and what you love. Throughout life those things may change but if you built that bond with your community then you’ll be surprised of the amount of people that will stick around for every era of your life!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main goal during my journey is to reach as many people as I possibly can. I want to be make a positive impact on the lives of others. That could be showing them what not giving up looks like, or inspiring them to create, or just anything that stems from my work. One day I won’t be here anymore and I want to continue to live within the memories of others in a positive way. I want to be remembered.
