We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tashalyn Spraglin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tashalyn below.
Tashalyn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was living in South Florida at the time and i needed some extra money always. I was taking photos of my friend and she was a model for an agency out there.. she’d always mention i should take photos professionally. One day I got in a bind with my living situation and i decided i needed to get a side hustle. I always considered freelancing would just be a “side job” but when i really started diving deeper into the media world and seeing a need for what i was doing it, i started to take myself seriously and reach for higher.. eventually realizing this is what I should’ve been doing my entire life for the start.

Tashalyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Okay, well Hello everyone I’m Tashalyn Owens, aka Lynn to most people . I am a Photoghaper,Videographer,Creative director etc. Born and mainly based in Dallas Tx. I was born for this industry and I fought my way here. I am thouroughly self taught and in a mind set to constantly learn about my craft. I stated freelance shooting in July of 2016 and since then i have evolved into a production company owner who has shot all over the US. Im only getting started.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is have my production company , my media and photos I take , and my photo studio services to sell themselves without me lifting a finger. I’m thankfully starting that journey now. I thrive in the lights, runways, high fashion studio shoots that’s me .. that’s what makes my heart beat. I just recently shot photos at my First Fashion week event in LA. It was a dream come true. something i could never say when i was watching it on TV I Could/ Would be able to live that in reality. I just want to keep going and get there.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Whew, mannn so I’m such a people person but i have a hard time working with other only when it comes to my craft in photography. Well i should say i had a hard time. I was not the type to “judge” other peoples work.. but learn from it. I always wanted to do things my way , i can come off kind of bossy and upfront. Not everyone works well with a boss mentality but i just had to realize that I was to far ahead of myself in the game to fill like i have be a true boss and not start with a team. That perspective changed my mind and way of thinking. So now i just look for people who are like minded and are in the industry and work with them.
