We recently connected with Tasha Taylor and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tasha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we talk about all of your success, let’s start with a story of failure. Can you open up about a time when you’ve failed?
A failure I experienced was definitely obtaining my bachelor’s degree. The plan was to obtain a degree in business and accounting. I was in my junior year and the school lost the accreditation so I had to start over because the school I transferred too wouldn’t take my credits. I did 3 years there too and my financial aid maxed out. Unless I could pay cash for college I had to leave.. I waited a few years and re.attempted and a different school told the same funding story. I never received my bachelor’s degree. While it was a personal goal I learned to deal with it and move on.. Now im the owner of sugarhi sweet eats n treats A 9x award winning bakery in atlanta.

Tasha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Yes! I’m tasha AKA Sugarhigirl. Born and raised atlanta native. I’ve had many career aspirations under my belt such as army chemist, accountant , coffee master, cosmetologist and choreographer. Baking found me at the lowest point of my life. It gave me a reason to be better. 8 years in ive competed locally, nationally and internationally on Netflix and food network. I’ve made a name for myself in the baking community and given my kids a mom to look up too!.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I was a mary Kay advanced color color consultant. I used to make cake pops and attach them to my business cards. When I went out I’d tell people to call me if they wanted to have a snack or look like one! They started calling for the snacks for parties, baby showers etc and sugarhi was born.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The best strategy for me to gain clientele would definitely be social media and word of mouth . It’s great when your clients go raving about you to their friends and family!
