We were lucky to catch up with Tasha Hutchison recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tasha, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
At 16yo, my mother would use creative writing as a means to redirect my drama queen antics. Whenever I became a drama queen, I would have to write a complete story. It had to have a beginning, middle, and end with a goal. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with fiction writing.
I carried that passion with me throughout my teen years and worked on my craft. When I was ready, I was able to land a traditional publishing contract. I also created writing organizers to help other writers with their journey.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I write women’s fiction. I achieved my Associates of Arts degree in 2015. To hone in on my skills, I continued my education with writing classes. I created Wordy Writer, LLC. to keep my work consistent. It helped me to complete my book, Broken Petals. Once my book was completed, I submitted it to my publisher and now it’s shared with the world! If there is someone who’s reading this article and dreams of writing a book, Wordy Writer Organizers will help you set the foundation to make the process easier.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love having the ability to create fictional worlds and characters and knowing them well enough for them to tell their story. Being able to share it with the world is even more rewarding.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to take realistic issues that people face daily. For instance, in Broken Petals, my main character Brooklyn Monti suffers from Huntington’s disease. It’s a condition that leads to progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the brain that affects movement, cognitive functions, and emotions. My goal with Broken Petals was to give my readers hope even when it seems they’re in a hopeless situation.
