Hi Tasha, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The purpose of Little Miss Cakes is two-fold. First of all, I love being a small part of helping my clients celebrate life, marriage, accomplishments, and more. To make their celebrations just a little more special with a delicious and beautiful cake brings me great joy, because I genuinely love to see people happy, in love, and successful. The second, and most important, purpose behind Little Miss Cakes is my family’s well-being. Little Miss Cakes helps put food on our table and happiness in our hearts. With this, I hope that my work for Little Miss Cakes not only fills my children’s bellies, but helps shape who they are. They get to see my work first-hand and I hope this teaches them that hard work and determination brings about profit of all kinds. I hope my legacy is a strong work ethic coupled with kindness and love.
Tasha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Always an artist and lover of sweets, I decided to make my brother a celebration cake for his 16th birthday. This was just the beginning of my cake artistry journey. Since I was a girl, two of my biggest goals were to be a wife and a mother. I’ve been blessed to marry young and have three children. I assumed that as they each reached age 5, one-by-one they’d go off to a traditional school and I’d get back to my 9-5. However, God had other plans.
My first child has special educational needs. My husband and I decided that homeschooling would be best for him and this decision shaped who we’ve become as a family. It also gave me the motivation to turn my cake artistry hobby into a cottage industry.
Little Miss Cakes was established in 2011. I serve the Sandhills area in North Carolina with cakes, cupcakes, cakesicles, and cake bombs for all occasions.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for Little Miss Cakes is the current client. When I please the people I’m working for by being attentive and efficient during the ordering process, I find that they share their experience with friends. And not only that, when there is delicious cake at an event, party guests want to know where the cake is from! “Oh, wow! This buttercream is so light and creamy!” Yes, that is not your traditional sweet American buttercream. That is Little Miss Cakes.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is an exceptional product and good customer service. Little Miss Cakes provides scratch-made cakes, made to order, always fresh and never frozen. They are uniquely designed with a particular client in mind. And, the design is executed with skill. The customer service from Little Miss Cakes is attentive, efficient, and informative. These two aspects encourage clients to share their experience which provides new clients. The second most effective strategy for growing my clientele is my website. It is very important for potential clients to be able to find you on the internet, see what you are about, and place an order.
